Tina's backpackers hostel by a005116 This hostel is certainly the cheapest place on the island and the best place to meet other backpackers. Per night it is $7,5 for a bed in a dormitory, but the're also cheaper places outside on the hamocks. There's a kitchen, a tv and the owner will do the laundry if you ask. dreadlocks by windsorgirl Sandy Lane Guesthouse was recommended to me by several people before I even arrived on Caye Caulker. It is very inexpensive and quiet. I had a private room with a private bath with hot water for only 32BZ/night. There was no air conditioner but there was both a ceiling fan and a standing fan. There are also rooms with shared bath for only 20BZ.
The room was very basic, but it was clean, quiet and safe. This photo was taken on the porch outside my room. My next door neighbour was having dreadlocks put in her hair by one of the locals. Her dreadlocks did not come with a colourful wool hat as modelled by her hairdresser. Frenchie (of Frenchie's Diving) and his wife Getraud run this wonderful hotel. Quiet, safe and comfortable. Frenchie and Getraud are a wealth of information and experience. Large, white stucco, two story building dominates the courtyard. Air conditioned guest rooms are downstairs. The family lives upstairs. Also, two seperate cabanas. We stayed in a cabana for a month. Two bedrooms. H/C water. Full kitchen. Simple but comfortable. No AC, but the large fans made the evenings nice. Cabanas are now $600/month. Still a very good deal!
Spend those hot afternoons under the almond tree in the courtyard. One of the best spots on the island. 2 minute walk to the Split. Bikes available for guests.

I didn't see anything on the internet about this place, but I just (2006) got a comment that said "ignaciosbeachcabins Fri May 5, 2006 12:26 EDT =hey i would just like to point out that we are here and operational and am greatful to all our customers and guests thanks from ignacio's beach cabins" . It was pretty close to the airport, but a distance away from everything else (at least as far as you can be on Caye Caulker). Just north of Shirley's Guesthouse (which is still there) and south of the Anchorage Resort. They had a check from our agent for us, but did not realize what days it was for, so we got the end cabin #14 which does not have hot water. I think some of the other cabins do have hot water. It also did not have towels or toilet paper. Ramon, who helps run the place gave us toilet paper and gave us towels under protest as he said he did not usually supply them. The cabins are mostly on stilts on the beach. They have windows with screens and louvers, and a Casablanca fan.
Our cabin had a single and a double bed. The double was very bouncy (which my husband didn't like), and the bottom sheet was a synthetic which pills and is like sleeping in sand. Also in the room was one chair, a rack on the wall, three wall shelves, and a couple of clothes lines, including one on the stair landing. The shower and sink drained directly out the bottom to the sand below. Toilet paper had to be placed in the trash (which was not emptied) There was no mirror in the bathroom or anywhere else, no soap, and no place to put anything in the bathroom except the sink or the toilet box. There was a night light and electricity in the bathroom, and one overhead light in the cabin. There was a sign on the wall that said BZ$45/night, but I don't know what we actually paid as we had a package deal. There is a dock, with some chairs on it where people sunbathed and swam. We were actually quite comfortable here except for the bed and the lack of a mirror.

Wayne, the hotel owner, was really cool. I booked the cabana way in advance, though, so you might have to also to get it. The room itself was not high on amenities. But, if you want to be in a 4-star hotel, you aren't the Caye Caulker type. It had a refrigerator, a nice sized porch with chairs and a hammock. And the ocean was about 10 feet away.
The view of the ocean from the cabana or the deck is amazing. That alone made it worth it. Theme: HotelPrice: US$20-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: The first hotel you see as you get off the dock of the water taxiDirections: Get off the pier and it'll be on your right.

by TemperatureWuss The Seaside Cabanas is great!. They were so helpful with answering all my questions before I arrived, booking the interisland flights from Belize City, and welcoming smiles, once I arrived. Their rooms are clean and beautiful, and they have the only pool on the island. This is great, because there really aren't a lot of places on the island to swim. They also do a great job of keeping the mosquito population at bay with citronella.
Nice Pool, Air Conditioned Rooms, Private Rooftop Cabanas, AMAZING SERVICE!! Theme: HotelPrice: US$80-120 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: www.seasidecabanas.comDirections: Right off the ferry pier... bright orange... can't miss it!Website: www.seasidecabanas.com

This is where we stayed at. The hotel is painted in typical bright, Carribean colors. Our room was an OceanFront Room, where we had enjoyed an unbelievable view of the cabana and ocean. Owners Susan and Kim Briggs are extremely hospitable and very friendly. The room had a comfortable queen bed, ceiling fan, coffee maker, small refridgerator, cable TV, and private bath. Outside our room, not directly at the door entrance but the side of our room, there is a small patio area with two lawn chairs and a table, looking straight at the ocean, which was less than 100 feet away. Property grounds were well landscaped and cleaned daily. Highlight of this property has to be the walkway that leads to four lawn chairs to suntan on, and a thatched covered cabana featuring two hammocks and a sitting chair, which we spent countless hours laying in. Steps lead down from this walkway to the ocean, so it's easy to jump in for a quick swim. Our only "complaint" was that on the first night, we discovered the bathroom to be crawling with ants. A whole ant colony had taken up residence in the wall behind the sink, which was fairly disconcerting while trying to brush your teeth. We sprayed them with Raid that we got from the local convenience store.
