BIRDING AND TRIPPING BELIZE

SEVERAL NIGHTS IN A PRIVATE CABIN. SEVERAL CABINS CONNECTED BY BOARD WALK. LARGE BIRD VIEWING AREA. THEY LIKE ALMOST EVERY ONE IN BELIZE IN IN THE TRIP ARRANGING BUSINESS AND ALSO SET UP TRANSPORTATION BY PRIVATE AUTO. DON'T RENT.PLACE IS GREAT COOL AT NIGHT GENERATOR POWER UNTIL MIDNIGHT THEN LAMPS. RUNNING WATER SHOWERS,AND TOILETS. MEALS SERVED,THERE IS NO WHERE ELSE TO GO UNLESS YOU GET A RIDE TO TOWN, I FELT THE FOOD WAS RATHER PLAIN AND SCANT FOR THE PRICE.BUT ,THEN THINS ARE COSTLY IN BELIZE DO TO LOCATION AND TAXES. WE WERE TREATED WELL AND TOOK A TRIP TO" MAYAN RUINS ,THIS SITE REFUSES TO ACCEPT THE NAME"IN GUATEMALA FROM THE ABOVE NAMED PLACE LUNCH PROVIDED WAS CHEAP FOR THE TRIP PRICE. NONE THE LESS THE TRIP WAS GREAT

Unique Quality: NO POOL JUNGLE MOUNTAIN AREA NOT FAR FROM RIVER CURRENT COSTS UNKNOWN. WE WERE THERE 5 YEARS AGO.

Beautiful grounds!

The service and staff were very friendly and accommedating. I made reservations from Belize City the day before I drove out to San Ignacio. DuPlooy's is an eco-lodge just up a dirt road from the famous Chaa Creek resort. I would definitely recommend duPlooy's.

The priced seemed very resonable, much lower than when I checked on their website before I left. It paid to make the reservations once in Belize, but I was there during the off season. This probably would not be a good idea during the busy season.

Unique Quality: Situated in the Belizean jungle just above the Macal River. The garden were great as well as the food. Not to much to do unless you sign up for one of the many trips that they offer. I chose to take a day trip to Tikal, Guatamala (see Tikal).

I did a short hike and was able to walk down to the Macal River. The river was very quiet and hade a nice, small sand beach.

Although I did not take advantage, massages are available on a deck over looking the Macal River and the jungle. It looked like it would be very relaxing.
