The Log Cab-Inn: Family Accomodation
by Neb2489
Alright, so the name is a bit tacky, but it does have its redeeming features.
Located on the outskirts of San Ignacio, the Log Cab-Innis a beautiful place, and Miguel (the caretaker) is very helpful in pointing you in the right direction to find wildlife (there are two armidillo that have taken up residence there and patrol the grounds early morning, along with many parots). However, getting a decent rate takes a little negotiating. Initially, they told us that it would be $55/cabin/night, but we talked it down to $45. The grounds here are gorgeous, and the cabins are quite nice as well, however, it seems the pool filter is never turned on, and the two women who run the front desk/kitchen were the only rude people I ever ran into in the country (literally), but overall - a nice place to stay for a few nights, especially for families, as it lies just out of the town and is very quiet.
- Quiet location; great for those traveling with kids and wanting to get out of the city, as well as those who love to be surrounded by nature.
- Grounds-keeper is very helpful for tour advice, as well as tips of catching some of the harder-to-find animals (however, he only recently moved to Belize from Guatemala, so he speaks little English)
