Chan Chich Lodge
It’s a long drive though the jungle to get there, but it’s a pretty drive and I’d say it’s worth it. Chan Chich is located on a beautiful private reserve, with lot of great hiking. Most of the people we met there were serious bird watchers so if your into birding this is the place to go. Everyone who worked there was very friendly and the food was great. It was a little expensive, but you felt like you were eating a gourmet meal every night. Although we never saw one, everyone we talked to in Belize said that this is the best place to see a big cat.
Unique Quality: The trails and wild life are really outstanding. Every evening and morning you hear the howler monkeys as if they were outside your door. There are also some unexcavated ruins right on the grounds, which are pretty neat.

St Christophers
This is a very nice clean hotel with large rooms and en-suite bathrooms. The gardens of the hotel lead down to the river, I am not sure if it is safe to swim here as there are crocodiles in the river. They don’t have a restaurant but you can get coffee and cooldrinks. There is an internet café close by and the restaurant down by the river has good food (up the road near the agricultural buildings). You can get a taxi here form the bus stop
