It's hard not to find a place without a view, and the Grand Caymanian didn't hold anyhting back. We visited the resort before Hurricane Ivan forced a remodeling, but I'm sure it would be just as great afterward. The resort is located in Safe Harbor, across from the 7 mile beach. I would suggest renting a car, for the road into Safe Harbor takes a couple of minutes.
The resort has its own beach on the gulf side in Safe Harbor. A dock jets out from the beach, with fantastic snorkleing at the end. Water depth at the end of the dock was shallow (10-15 feet), but only 50 feet or so from the dock, the floor drops right off, and the life around this shelf is abundant. A great secret: the snorkleing trip out of this resort is the best! The boat leaves the dock early. With under 15 people, we were the first and only boat out the Stingray City, and we swam alone with the stingrays for a good half hour before the cruise boat crowd rolled in by the boatfuls. We picked up anchor and moved out to the reef, where again we get our privacy. The captain knew where local morays and sharks rested, making a great show. You do not have to stay at this resort to sign up for their trip. I recommend it. | | | | Sea Cliff Beach Resort Homes in Grand Cayman: I can tell you about Paradise.... | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
I stayed 2 nights in July 2007 & could not have felt more at home or any more comfortable in the Lemon Home. I can see why the homes are touted as being ones where all the guest has to bring is a toothbrush. Everything else is included from wi-fi to cable TV to beach towels and wine openers. The Lemon & Lime homes are all part of a complex of 7 other homes in various styles & configurations), have 3 freshwater pools & of course--the "Big Pool"--meaning the Caribbean. The beachfront homes meet up with a marine preserve out their back door. The area is quiet, yet close to several major attractions & beaches. Heritage Beach is adjacent to the property & many great restaurants are within easy, short driving distance. This is a truly awesome, eye-opening beachfront living experience & I did not want to leave. The saving grace is that I will be back & now have both the contacts & the ability to be able to access this home for myself or others-- or any of the other 7 adjacent beachfront or beachhouse units--- on the property's compound thoughout the year. An email to me or click on the link below can provide the details on this property.
I stayed in one of thetwo (Lemon Home) beachfront homes that has 4 bedrooms & 3 bathrooms with full-appliances in a fully functional kitchen; cable TV's in every room; stereo surround sound; wi-fi; wireless telephones; full size laundry room with washer & dryer; enclosed & attached one-car garage; outdoor shower; covered porches on front & back; literally 20 steps to the beachfront waters' edge of a protected reef area; outdoor furniture; full dining room & living room; plenty of storage; lanai's with views; jacuzzi-tub; modern & contemporary accessories & appliances. The home is fully air-conditioned, has filtered water, and an ambiance that is second to none that I have experienced worldwide. This does not feel like a house--- it feels like a home. The third floor “Futon” Tower room has a full size futon bed with an outdoor observation deck/ sitting area with a spectacular view of the protected marine park & Caribbean Sea. The gorgeous view from this elevation is just awesome. Again, everything you'd expect to find in a fine beachfront home (this is more than just a beach-house ---it is a beachfront home)--you will find. No worries, no problems, just a vacation or holiday the way you intend, expect and deserve. | | | | Turtle Nest Inn: A Hotel you can call Home | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
Turtle Nest Inn is what you can truly call a home away from home. That's what we called it anyway. During our stay we always referred to "going home" vs. "going back to the hotel". The Inn has 8 apartments. Yes, that's right, 8 apartments not rooms. Each apartment has a fully stocked kitchen with everything you need & then some. The living room has an entertainment unit with not only a tv but a divd player (there were movies out in the foyer for your viewing pleasure). The living room had the full array of furniture ... loveseat, couch, end table, lamp & coffee table. The bedroom was huge. A queen size bed with two white wicker nightstands on either side & a dresser. It had a full length closet with doors as mirrors & a huge bright light inside the closet! I absolutely loved the layout of the bathroom! You could gain access to the bathroom either from the bedroom or the living room. The balcony was to die for. We could gain access from either the bedroom or the living room & it spanned the entire length of the apartment. Plus, it gave us private beach access. Each apartment has a different floor plan & although we had the smallest apartment at the Inn, it was perfect for the two of us, including all of our scuba equipment/suitcase & other luggage. Let me not forget to mention the housekeeping. They did a bang up job each & every day, changing the linens on the beds, fresh towels & washclothes in the bathroom & something I didn't expect them nor wanted them to do was wash my dishes, but they did! In fact they did such a wonderful job of cleaning the apartments that my husband thought the patio door was open & ended up walking straight into it! Now that was funny!
Turtle Nest Inn has many, many unique qualities. Such as the true beach towels in the apartments vs. the white towels you get in the hotels. I mentioned earlier dvd's to be viewed but there were also books and magazines to read. A newspaper was delivered to your door every day. The Inn had a computer upstairs in the hallway with internet access, but if you had your own laptop, each apartment was outfitted with internet access. Our Host and Hostess, Alain and Marleine, were absolutely wonderful! Anytime they saw us they asked if we needed anything. "Of course not, everything was perfect!" When we did have questions regarding the island or needed help with something, they were there with an answer.....or was able to find it in a matter of minutes. Alain & Mareine are truly a dying breed.....they care about their customers & tend to them as if they are their own children. The one unique quality that I enjoyed tremendously was Vitamine and Blackie. Vitamine, Marleine and Alain's cat, would accompany us down to the beach/pool & keep us company. Rubbing up against us & giving us love. At one point Vitamine jumped up onto my belly, settled in & took a nap. I loved it!. Another afternoon, I was exhausted, so we came home & Vitamine and Blackie both came into our apartment to keep us company. We played with both of them awhile, then Vitamine jumped up to the couch to take a nap & I went to lay down on the bed...I really expected her to follow me in there and lay down with me, but alas she didn't . I would have to say that the only regret I have about Turtle Nest Inn is the fact that we left our dive gear at the dive shops, thus not being able to take advantage of the wonderful reef just steps from our door. This was one activity I had planned on doing yet I totally forgot & left my fins & mask behind. Next time I return to Turtle Nest Inn, I won't forget to bring home my mask & fins so I can snorkel in that fantastic reef right behind the Inn.
