    Seven Mile Beachfront Heaven

    by

We got a really great deal for a beachfront suite with views for days. It's great waking up and walking out to the beach for jet skiing, lounging, and red sail sports is right there too. We hopped on a boat right accross the way for a scuba trip that was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. One downside is there isn't much snorkeling right off the beach.

  • Pretty Nice

    by

Was close to a few restaurants and a Burger King. So if you wanted to, you could walk to a few places for food.It was a long haul just to get to the beach if you are in any of the rooms across the street. The overpass is nice though if you do need to use it.The beach is sort of crowded compared to the Westin.

Unique Quality: The Hyatt has really nice landscaping. It feels like you are walking through a tropical eden at some points...until you come to the road.

    Cute guys work here

    by

The bartender at the pool bar was really cute. I met him at a club one night. I used to go there on my days off and drink frosty delights. Lots of palm trees, everything is oversize. Tons of activites from snorkeling, kayaking, biking, windsail, parasail, sea-doo, shopping. A great restaurant sushi place called BAMBOO. Very expensive and posh. You really dressed to the nines to feel comfortable at dinner. When I was there Bamboo was fast becoming the islands hotspot for nightlife. On Wednesdays and Saturdays there is live music played.

Unique Quality: Set on the most beautiful sand of Seven Mile Beach.

    Grand Cayman's Nicest Resort

    by

There are actually two halves or sides to this hotel. The main part of the hotel is located inland and the beach side houses many suites and rooms facing the beach and poolside views. This is where our room was located.

At first, we thought this was strange to be across the street from the main hotel but actually we got used to it. It wasn't a big deal and the change of scenery only added to the experience. We would go back and forth between sides using the covered overpass and use both pools. We actually preferred the pool on the main hotel side in the mornings and then the pool on the beach side in the afternoons. Don't ask why, just as crowds come in we move out..It also depended on our evening plans, water sports - they are all located on the beach side.. Try both and then you can choose your favorite.

Our room, by the way, was very large and elegantly decorated. We had a balcony which we love and always use for evening chill time and early morning-room service breakfast. Food and service was always very good!

I highly recommend this hotel. We were very satisfied. I would go back in a second. Cayman is expensive but a relaxing trip with tons of fun in the sun.

Unique Quality: The coolest thing at this hotel is the swim up bars!

Beachside has a smaller bar (and smaller pool) that faces the beach. The other pool has a larger bar. I was told it was in a movie with Gene Hackman and Tom Crusie, The Firm.

The drinks were awesome..we had our favorites, no idea of the name.. Picked right from the drink menu. The bartenders were very friendly.

Visit the Spa located at the Hyatt Regency; we had massages and couldn't complain. (Visit concierge to reserve your appointment asap). As always for spas, arrive early to detox and take your time cooling down before your treatment ie. massage, facial etc. Drink plenty of fluids right after.

One negative thing: On the beach side there is one measly small store that sells horrid coffee and stone hard bagels and pastries. After the first day, we learned our lesson, we quickly found another breakfast place..see my restaurant tips.

    UPDATE: 9/25/04
Note: The Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman is closed until December 1, 2004 due to water damage sustained from the passing of Hurricane Ivan. We expect to begin repair on the affected areas as quickly as possible and are accepting reservations for travel beginning December 1, 2004.

If you currently hold a reservation between 9/14/04 - 12/1/04 please contact the travel professional you made the reservation with or contact our assistance line at: 866-886-5052

  • Best Diving In The World

    by

We sayed at the Regency one night but remained the rest of our vacation at a private condo on the beach. Regardless- this island is by far the MOST expensive i've ever visited but by far the best.
Diving was INCREDIBLE even when it rained. Bad day of diving beats a good day at the office any time!!!!

Unique Quality: For diving plans- use Keith and Kasey at Neptune Divers. 4-6 people max on their boat!! Personalized service. Don't use the cattle car of Red Sails or any others. These 2 work their asses off and make every dive a memorable one.

The beach suites here are sweet indeed!

    by

A Hyatt is a Hyatt is a Hyatt...

How can you go wrong? The main building (across the street) is currently closed so the beach suites are where you would stay.

Unique Quality: Directly on 7 mile beach these rooms are great for families.
    Quite spacious with beautiful decor.

-note, the 2 bedroom suite has a huge balcony. Party anyone?

    I must add this:
the resort next door does allow cruise passengers to use their beach which can cause a crowded beach day as the hotels are so close to one another.

    Directions: 7 mile beach

Hyatt is great for families

by xcheckers about Hyatt Grand Cayman

Luxury accomodation on/next to 7 mile beach. Tons of facilities in a lush, beautiful setting. This is where parts of 'The Firm' were filmed. Beautiful pools.

Some rooms could use refurbishing and the service here is not always up to traditional Hyatt standards. We got stuck in the elevator twice in 10 days and the inside phones did not work and help didn't come quickly. Also, it took forever to have things fixed in the room. It's a great property, but the service should be better.

If you are not in the incredibly expensive beach suites, know you will have to walk through an overpass to get to the beach, but it is protected. The views, pools and lush garden setting are the highlights

Beautiful but Expensive

by Vallelde about Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman

We traveled to Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands with three children and stayed at the Hyatt. One if not the nicest resorts on the island. Grand Cayman is a British island and it looks it. Clean, polite, little crime and very expensive. It is one of the most beautiful islands that I have been too but you will pay. They Hyatt is lovely and has a lovely seperate beach area that is across the road. This really is not an inconvenience as the grounds and pool area is massive. They overbooked the hotel when we were there and had to put us in a room with a king bed and sleeper. Tight for five. They did put us on the Conceirge floor so we had our own lovely lady to assist us. Drinks, appetizers, afternoon tea, breakfast was included to make up for their mistake. Thank goodness because it is expensive to eat out. A funky place to eat and drink is the "Lone Star". Made Newsweeks "Top bars the World". It is alot of fun. Be sure to take a trip on a charter to swim with the stingrays. Awesome and the crew is as much fun as anything. Lots of snorkeling. Also did a trip to a sunken ship to snorkel. Good for beginners. Georgetown is a great city to shop in. Very upscale but you can walk around and find other deals. We rented a jeep and explored the island for a couple of days. Would recommend it although cabs are everywhere. Lovely trip but be prepared to spend some money.

Disappointed

by TripAdvisor Member LasVegas_NVTraveler

If you are thinking of staying in one of the four two bedroom oceanfront suites at the Hyatt Grand Cayman, do yourself a favor and stay at the Westin Casuarina Grand Cayman. Hyatt should be ashamed at themselves for offering such a shabby accommodation. They need to replace the furnishing and the threadbare carpet. Maybe the Hyatt personnel should do what we did, check out the two bedroom suites at the Westin Casuarina. What a difference, spacious, clean and tastefully decorated accommodations. Good bye Hyatt, hello Westin.
