rent snorkel gear

by wyogirl

Is there a place near the cruise ship terminal to rent snorkel gear for a day?

Re: rent snorkel gear

Rather than pay the high charges of the cruise line we bought ours before we left and only rented the fins and life vests from the ship.

Travel Tips for Grand Cayman

paradise

by amandamarie0724

if you arraving via a cruise ship... don't book your activities with the ship. as soon as you get onto land there are tour people ready to take you and it's less expensive. taxis to 7mile beach are not to expensive either. i could have stayed on that beach forever. wear sun block... even if you tan. that sun is friggin hot. here's my perfect day in cayman...

go swim with the gigantic stingrays, find a restraunt on beach with a table facing the ocean, order some conch chowder and rice and beans, hop in a cab to 7 mile beach and order a pina colada, then finish off the day with a bit of shopping to bring home presents.

great gift i dea for kids... cayman money!

Playing With Clown Fish On The Amazing Reef

by Trina_Craggs

My favourite thing about Grand Cayman would have to be renting snorkelling equipment and swimming on the reef. The water is a beautiful blue and feels like heaven and sun warmed skin. My fondest memory would be watching the clown fish play around my feet. If are completely still the fish aren't scared of you and will play around your feet. It's a definite breathtaking experience.

Just drive to almost any place wth water access

Have a look at some of these photos if you don't believe me - all were taken while snorkeling. One of the best sites, admittedly, was the one we reached by boat: On our snorkeling excursion to Stingray City's shallow sandbar with Fantasea Adventures, there was a second stop included with the afternoon's trip, to nearby Barrier Reef (see photos with tips above for Barrier Reef area).
But the Caribbean Reef Squids pictured here I encountered while snorkeling by the Sunset House, as was the lovely little Blue Tang in the next shot. And snorkeling by the TurtleNest Inn we saw lots of lobsters, and even a dark phase Goldentail Moray Eel chasing a small Red Grouper from its front doorstep under a rock ledge!

Here are some tips ...

...one should remember when visiting The Cayman Islands:

* Please note that they drive on the left

* Respect the rules of all the Marine Parks and other protected waters

* Don't disturb the marine life - look but don't touch, especially the coral

* It's not crime free area - take care of your valuables

* Electricity: 110/115 volts in the same configuration as the USA and Canada.

Thank you for your Time - I hope you enjoyed this virtual visit

Snorkel Gear, Beach Shoes & Coverups

by AliasGirl

Beach bag/and or a small duffel for day trips (snorkel & scuba excursions) to other locales. All water wear: bikini, sarongs, flip flops, board shorts. Sunglasses, hat, suntan lotion

Daytime: casual but comfy walking shoes, you'll walk almost everywhere if you don't have a car

Evening: ladies-sundresses, capri pants and a cool top. bring those silver or gold shoes you have hiding in your closet so chic for dinner nightcap!
men-pants and linen tops, short sleeve button downs, nice slip on shoes Normal stuff, however, local supermarkets are always near by as well as pharmacys-don't worry! Tons of photo equipment and a charge on your digital camera. Snorkeling and scuba equipment Books to help enjoy and pass your day at beach/pool. I must have read three small books during my week stay.
