Aim to Please
by jonkaren3 about Wyndham Sunshine Suites
The Wyndham is working very hard to welcome guests back while continuing to rebuild after Ivan's destruction. We arrived at around 1:30. One of our rooms was ready, and the other was not. Check in is 3:00, and our second room was ready by 3:00. The rooms have been freshly painted, and polished. Brand new bed spreads, but a mixture of furnishings. A few of the promised amenities were absent such as a CD player in the room. If we had asked, I'm sure one would have been provided. The management, Mike and Frank in particular, went out of their way to please. We appreciated their effort so much, that we invited them to dine with us on our last night. Our stay during this soft opening, was truly amazing. From the every night Happy Hour, to the many friends we made. The only thing that I will complain about was the bed pillows. They had an unpleasant odor. It bothered me enough to wrap a bath towel around it. The grounds looked great. The pool was wonderful, and the patio furnishing were all new. The dive lockers had not been rebuilt yet. A small inconvenience since there is no elevator! The dive gear is heavy, you know! The continental breakfast was much more then continental!! All of the staff was friendly and kind. One main reason we chose this hotel was because of the kitchens. It really saves a lot of money to prepare your own meals. The section of Seven Mile Beach across the street, is the most beautiful (In my opinion)
Happy Hour Specials (Food & Drinks)
by kennyken76 about Sunshine Grill (Sunshine Suites Hotel)
You'll get a great mix of meals at this restaurant. The staff is just great! If you there for breakfast you'll see Ingrid and she is fantastic. Lunchtime to dinner is Ms. Iona, she is so kind and sweet. This restaurant has Happy Hour Specials from 4:30 to 7 pm so make sure to bring an appetite. Their burgers, appetizers & fish tacos are 1/2 off and their drinks are $3.00. The restaurant itself is closed in and has this extremely large fan keeping everyone cool. Just remember, if you pay in US dollars, you will receive CI dollars. The burgers are so large you won't be able to finish them. When you order french fries, they come with fried fresh jalapeno peppers and sliced mushrooms. Their Mahi tacos are wonderful as well as their Triple Decker Quesadillas. Just about anything you try on the menu is a winner. If you stay at the hotel, don't eat the continental breakfast, you must try one of their famous omeletes. They are to die for.
Visiting Grand Cayman

We went to Grand Cayman in March 2004 and stayed at the Wyndham Sunshine Suites. Very nice hotel with kitchenettes. It's across the street from Seven Mile Beach, but it's in walking distance and the hotel will lend you beach chairs. We bought a timeshare at the Grand Caymanian while we were there (we loved this island that much!). It was hit pretty hard by Hurricane Ivan, but reopened this past June and I've heard it's better than ever! We'll be there for the week of Thanksgiving.
Here's some of the fun spots in Grand Cayman!
If you're on a budget, that's the place to stay

I think this hotel has it's charm. It's not a 5 star hotel but with its colonial design and its colors it is really a charming place. The rooms were cleaned everyday. Continental breakfast was included but unfortunately everyday was the same food, so it's good that we were only there 8 days. The beach is right across the street but for this price it's worth walking 3 minutes. The bar next to the pool is open very late and the food and drinks are excellent. Even once a week the hotel has an all you can eat dinner. On that day you can actually see most of the people that are staying at the hotel. If I were to go to Caymans again, I would definatelly chose the same hotel.
Great place to stay, have been there multiple times

Friendly atmosphere, clean & spacious rooms, nice outdoor restaurant/bar with great variety of meals, nice pool, short walk to stores and Seven Mile Beach -- a great secret in Grand Cayman!!
If you don't have to be on the beach, this is the place.

Just returned from the island. The hotel was still being renovated after the blow Ivan dealt it. Only half of the hotel was complete. The room was very clean and the staff was extremely friendly. My wife and I hope to return to Grand Cayman in the near future and will stay here again. The beach is a short walk, but well worth it. The water is incredible.
Nice Hotel; no resort features

FYI- This hotel is no longer a Wyndham. It is nice and clean. The hotel is across the street from the beach and has a sparse complimentary continental breakfast (poppy seed muffins, juice and coffee every day) included in the rate. You can also order breakfast off a menu which was very tasty and reasonably priced. The same restaurant serves excellent fish tacos and other great things at night. One must cross a very congested road in order to get to the beach-- there is no real crosswalk, and even if there were, no one seems to stop. The resort has no lobby, room service, etc. but does have a small pool. If you are just looking for a clean, pleasantly decorated, "no frills" place to stay, this is your place.

We spotted this HUGE lobster at Sea Fan Reef at Cobalt Coast Resort
Great Breakfast at the Sunshine Suites
This is the second time we've seen a spotted drum at turtle reef!
We saw this turtle on our dive to Wall Street1 You are almost garunteed to see a turtle when you dive Grand Cayman.
This fish was so friendly, I could almost pet her! This was taken a Sunset house shore dive.
