Looking for work

by bethrock

I'm interested in moving to Grand Cayman the beginning of June. I want to live near 7 mile beach. I'm looking for work, most likely Resturant/hotel industry. If anybody has some interesting leads on places you know are looking to hire, let me know. THanks

hi you two, there is loads of work out here in that industry, try the ritz carlton, i think pretty much everyone is looking to hire at the moment, i could give you a list! lol

as for living on seven miles beach, you will find it quite hard on that salary, it is possible but you have to share, maybe even share your room as it so exspensive. its where i live and it is by far the best, i love it (treasure island condos)

well if you have any more questions please ask, it is exspensive here.

Travel Tips for Grand Cayman

Unique experience of Cayman

by writerdivine

Kayaking
We did some kayaking with a company called Cayman Kayaks. We did a Sunset Tour and their Bioluminescence Tour. Neither my husband nor I have ever kayaked and we found it very easy. Very enjoyable to glide on the Caribbean with an introduction to the Mangroves, stop at sunset for a Rum Punch and watch the sun disappear on the horizon. The tour that takes your breath away and is almost indescribable is the Bioluminescence Tour. You paddle to a cove full of glow-in-the-dark ?water?. You stir up the water and it?s a glowing cloud of light. They do a great job of explaining the phenomenon. It has to be pitch black to get the best effect so the tour only runs for a couple of weeks a month. We lucked out with our timing. . When the fish streak by, they leave a trail of light like fireworks, leaving you speechless. They mentioned that there is only one other place in the world with such concentrated bioluminescence I highly recommend trying something unique like this.

Clean, modern, stable.

by ByAirOrSea

Possibly the best standard of living of the islands in the Caribbean. This might be perhaps due to the numerous foreign banks and investments from elsewhere. Nice medium to high quality shopping and touristy restaurants in town. Lots of activities on, in, and under the water. Numerous hotels of moderate to high quality yet still affordable. Popular place to fly into for a long weekend, or stop for the day by cruiseships. Still a British flavor on the island. Great rum, rum cakes, jewelry, perfumes, and usual fare for shopping.

Boats

by ncbcrazynyc

Going out onto the open waters is fun, glass bottom boats aren't all they are cracked up to be, because if you are moving all you see is a bunch of bubbles under the boat....this picture was taken while on a glass bottom boat

Schedule of Events

by AliasGirl

Before you head to Caymans, check out the schedule of events or check with your concierege - there is always fun events going on..

We visited during July 2003, so we were able to catch a summerfest that included all types of Cayman cuisine, drinks, entertainment and local crafts.

Excellent Diving with Ocean Frontiers

by ScubaMom

We got our advanced open water certification through Ocean Frontiers while we were there. They were amazing! The staff members are all very professional. We went on 7 dives while we were there, including one night dive and two deep dives. The night dive was an incredible experience! The walls there are gorgeous and the water was 80 degrees even at 100 feet!! The East End of the island has some of the most amazing diving I have ever seen. You can go to my webpage and see some pics from one of our dives (http://home.nethere.com/avonesch/Honeymoon%20Dive%20Page.html). On our last day of diving, the waves were HUGE and the crew, Brian and Matt, could tell that I was getting really nervous about getting off and back onto the boat. When I came up they helped me get back on by having me take my gear off before I climbed onto the boat. It made it so much easier for me and I was really thankful! The dive sites are full of swim throughs! We also saw a 6ft reef shark while we were on a wall! It looked a bit eerie when it swam out of the deep blue towards us, but it just checked us out and went on its way! I could just go on and on about the diving there but I will stop here and let you discover the rest for yourselves! We do not have our own equipment so we rented everything through them, including a camera for one fo the dives.
