The beach life is a must!
by LysDor
All sorts of water activities especially snorkeling are to be tryed out.

I went everyday (several times a day!!!) for a snorkeling swim and found MY SPECIAL SPOT. Unfortunately there was also a beautiful colored tropical fish with whom I shared the area. This fish was very territorial and as soon as I arrived on top of him he became very nervous - swimming faster and stopping underneath me to have a better look who was disturbing his peace!
As it was FLAT he had to tilt on its side to see me - that looked truly funny but as he kept on doing it several times I got the message and left HIS SPOT for that time but I must admit I had to go back there every day to see my *pet-fish* even if he had a different opinion about my presence there!!

Convert Your Currency
by kennyken76
It became apparent by day 2 of our trip that we needed to convert our U.S. currency over to CI dollars. Few places would give you change in U.S. dollars so you might want to put items on your plastic or just convert your money.
LIFES A BEACH

All the beaches on Grand Cayman are public ones
This means that even if you are staying in the worst, cheapest or tattyest place on the island you can go and sit on the beach outside the largest grandest hotel and dream........
Natives have it made in Cayman

Caymanians pay no tax, get preferred status for every job on the island and are the only ones allowed to keep the fish caught (by anyone). They're wonderful but they do get plenty of money. I wouldn't worry about them to the point I'd go overboard on tipping. We should be so lucky as to be born a Caymanian!
Dress Clothes only Please
by ScubaCat
Remember your weight limits on bagage - 50 pounds Domestic and 70 pounds International. Although I hear tell some of the Airlines are dropping the weight acceptable on International Flights to 50 pounds. 3 Pairs of shorts, 4 T-shirts, Sandals, and most importantly a couple of dress shirts to go with your dress shorts or for women a couple of sundresses. Resturants expect you to be dressed smart/casual. Sandals are acceptable as well as shorts, but please no T-shirts. Only what you feel you must have. You can pick up almost anything here in the Cayman's, with the exception of your prescription medicine, so don't forget that. Bring your digital or 35 mm for topside photo's and your underwater camera for diving or snorkling. Make sure you bring extra batteries for both unless you feel confident that your batteries are extremely common. Don't forget the battery charger! Swimsuits!!! For you divers - bring all your gear, including your flashlight for night dives and most importantly bring your dive computer. Most dive shops allow you to dive your own profile with a pdc. For the snorkelers - fins, mask and snorkel should be your key, although you may want to obtain an underwater flashlight if you choose to do any night snorkeling. A light jacket for the evenings during winter is also helpful. I'm glad I had mine after the sun went down.
