Hyatt Grand Cayman: Hyatt is great for families

Luxury accomodation on/next to 7 mile beach. Tons of facilities in a lush, beautiful setting. This is where parts of 'The Firm' were filmed. Beautiful pools.

Some rooms could use refurbishing and the service here is not always up to traditional Hyatt standards. We got stuck in the elevator twice in 10 days and the inside phones did not work and help didn't come quickly. Also, it took forever to have things fixed in the room. It's a great property, but the service should be better.

If you are not in the incredibly expensive beach suites, know you will have to walk through an overpass to get to the beach, but it is protected.

The views, pools and lush garden setting are the highlights

Holiday Inn: Local guest houses

On 7 mile beach road. Has access to beach but you have to cross the street but a good and less expensive place to stay. Run my good people. The old HI was the best but it is memory now. Try local guest cottages. Lots of them. The nice thing about guest houses they are run by the people of CI and they can give you the best tips for the island. Some are located directly on 7 mile and I know of one in town on the beginning of 7 mile beach. You may not have a pool or expensive bar but what you gain!

Good pool and the best for island access. Get a car for 1 or 2 days and see the island after your first day in the sun and your burned. Yes, it happens easily. So be careful and over block.

Harbour Heights: Perfect Calm

This is an absolutely wonderful place to stay, as long as you are looking for peace and quiet. The condominiums are all privately owned and decorated, very spacious, with balcony or patio. I remember a nice, if small, kitchen, and two separate bedrooms with sepatate bathrooms. Probably very expensive though!

Wonderful location, on the best part of 7 mile beach (though may be all built up now -- used to be next to a public beach and not surrounded by huge hotels). Walking distance to Holiday Inn, if you want to rent some water sport aparatus, but quiet, low key, nice pool, table tennis... some of my fondest childhood memories (if not all of them) involve this place.

Marriott Courtyard: Across the Street From the Beach

Disclaimer: When I stayed here it was a Holiday Inn and that was before Ivan, in 2003. On our last trip to Grand Cayman, I noticed the hotel had changed hands and is now a Marriott. But I can't imagine it has changed all that much. This wasn't the kind of Holiday Inn my parents used to take us to during my childhood vacations. To compete with the likes of the Westin and Marriot, this hotel has a fairly impressive lobby, a huge pool with a fountain, and five floors of very well maintained rooms. The bathrooms looked brand-new.

Although the hotel isn't directly on 7-Mile Beach, it is just a walk across the street. Hotel guests get free access to the beach lounge chairs and towels. The hotel has a store and a restaurant and small bar. A "Business Room" is located just off the lobby, for those of us who can't spend more than a day away from a computer and the internet. There is also an exercise room and of course, the pool.

Morritt's Tortuga Club: Time Share On The East End

We stayed at Morritt's Tortuga Club on the East End. It's a time-share resort of townhouse condos. We weren't all that impressed when we first saw it, but the condo we got turned out to be quite comfortable and perfect for two couples.
Actually, I'm not sure exactly what it cost since our traveling companions traded their time-share for this, but I think it was mid-range for Cayman. It cost about $30 extra for the electricity for one week. And dinner for 4 at the restaurant was around $200 - and it wasn't that good, plus drinks came in PLASTIC cups! However, everything in Cayman is pretty expensive, so needless to say, we cooked in most of the time.

The pool area was quite nice, complete with waterfall and pool-bar - though a little small. What we liked about Morritt's was that the beach was sandy, but once in the water it was all coral and rock so it was great to come home after a day of diving and then eat dinner and go out for a night snorkel at the home-beach. Morritt's shines a light into the water at the dock house, which attracts huge tarpon and other critters. We had as much fun night-snorkeling as we did diving.

We found the in-house dive operation to be nice but expensive. We had a much better dive with Divers Down out of Georgetown. We opted to do more shore diving than boat diving due to the expense ($80 minimum for 2 tanks). The down side of staying on the East End is if you want to shore dive, you may have to sit in traffic for a very long time to get to the good spots around & beyond Georgetown. They have rush hour in the AM & PM.

This resort was absolutely amazing. The rooms were big and beautiful, there were three awesome swimming pool s and the location was excellent right on Seven Mile Beach.

Sea Lodge (#17 I think). It was reasonably priced, especially for the imenties we got:king bed, bath, kitchen, dining area, living room, furnished porch, etc. Also, AIR CONDITIONING! It's hot, don't mess with places that don't offer AC, you'll be miserable. This place was great and the housekeeper was very sweet.
It was about $1000 for a week-which, in the Caymans, is very reasonable especially for the accomodations. Make sure to get the condo at the farthest point toward the sand/sea.

Right on the sand. Within a few paces of great snorkeling. Close to Rum Point. 20 minutes drive to Seven Mile Beach. Excellent porch with comfy patio furniture and GREAT views from all windows and porches.

We stayed at the new Holiday Inn. It was nice, clean, in a great location (right across from the beach and lots of activities), and affordable too!

Nice big pool in back, and the rooms were large and very clean.

$190 US

The price was $190 a night. It's across from the beach where there's not much shade. The view from our room was fabulous. They have a good breakfast buffet. Probalby won't stay there again because I'd prefer to be right on the beach.

After 5 return visits to Cayman Brac, we fell in love with the new condos available for rental at the Cayman Breakers. We loved it so much we bought one and now offer it for others to enjoy.

The Cayman Breakers and Our Cayman Condo are located in a secluded part of the island where exclusive homes have been built. Close to the bluff road, it offers easy access to anywhere on the island in just minutes. The units have central air, cable tv, dishwasher, microwave, even washers / dryers! There are also oceanside hammocks and a refreshing freshwater pool. Rates are among the most affordable on the island and a great bargain for the luxuries provided.
