This mid-range hotel is good value for money. Behind a modest facade hides a large, century old house restored and adapted in Spanish style. And it is safe here: the tourist police office is on Calle 2 opposite the hotel!
We dropped in while shopping around for a deal for a long stay, 3 weeks. The hotel was full, but the elderly proprietress offered us a stay in one of several apartments belonging to the hotel one block up the street, for only USD 35 a day.
Unique Quality: Perhaps the furniture in the apartments is more sober than that in the hotel itself. But we were pleased that the deal included free internet in the lounge, continental breakfast in the garden breakfast area, and daily fresh towels and cleaning by one of the hotel staff. We also could park our rental car in the small yard of the apartments.
We had ample room for the two of us, because the apartment had two bedrooms with twin beds and each a bathroom, a living room and a kitchen. If you would come with a group of four, an apartment at hotel 1915 could be a priceworthy option.
The owners and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We often had a chat with them when dropping in at the hotel for breakfast or for internet.
Directions: On the third block north from Central Park (north-west corner).
