Poas Volcano
"The volcano clearing up..."
At 2708m high, you have to expect to be, at least a little, in the clouds. We were lucky (for a change!) and got to see the turquoise crater clear up before our eyes.
"... and up..."
In a mater of seconds, the sea of clouds revealed the amazing scenery at our feet.
"... until the magic is before us!"
Above the clouds, under a shinning sun and perfect blue sky, we found ourselves so lucky to be witness to the wonders of the Poas volcano.
"Let's get technical"
All the info you need might be just there!
The info center at the entrance and the guides available thoughout the site are helpful to understand not only the volcano but the entire geology of Costa Rica.
"A last look..."
up close inside the volcano before walking to the Botos crater.
Notice the amazing color of the lake, the rocky inferno rocks of the walls and the fume coming from inside the earth...
"Scatered vegetation"
Interesting to see the rough vegetation taking its stand on the volcanic ground. As we got down to the second crater and further downhill of the volcano, the luxurious green vegetation of Costa Rica came back...
"Botos lagoon"
To the southeast of the volcano lies a colapse cone, filled by rainwater to form Laguna Botos, and a cloud forest. With an elfin forest to take you from the main crater to the lagoon...
"A real last look..."
That's us!
