Most affordable view in La Fortuna
by hotwatermusic about Hotel Las Colinas
A unique hotel with nice sized rooms, free (quality) breakfast across the street, internet access and situated in one of the coolest towns in CR, depite it touristy feeling.
The views from the rooms on the volcano side are the prize though. A similar room elsewhere in the area could cost 2 or 3 times as much. Book ahead though as there are only two rooms with views, but still worth the stay if they're booked. Affordable view of the volcano.
Quality free breakfast.
Great location, great town.
La Fortuna Hotel
by LS18 about Monte Real Hotel
The hotel is motel style accommodation. ie the rooms are in buildings separate to the reception and you park your car outside each. Also there is no restaurant on the premises. This isnt a problem though as you're 5 minutes walk from restaurants in La Fortuna. The room was clean and modern and would have probably had a good view of the Arenal volcano (if it had come out of the cloud!) The owner spoke some english (his daughter was better ) and was helpful and arranged a zip lining trip for us. The hotel also has a small pool. Overall we were satisfied with the hotel for the price paid and I think its a good option near to the centre of town but in a quiet road.
Great Deal and Great Service at La fortuna
by GinGinCoo about Hotel Las Colinas
OK... It might not look like the best outside... But the rooms are actually OK and some of them even have a view of the volcano. It is right in the center of La Fortuna. They have internet access and the best of all the owner Wilmer is absolutely great! He offers tours and will even give you a deal if you purchase several from him. Its walking distance to restaurants and the souvenier shops are just across the streets! OH did I forget to say they have great rates!!!! I wish we stayed here but unfortunately we made reservations at another place before we found out about this one. ... for the price, location and service... this is a nice place to stay in In the middle of La Fortuna, walking distance to restaurants and shops.
Owner Wilmer is a delighful person to work with... ask him about his tours.
Internet access... they have several computers for rent for probably the cheapest rates I've seen in Costa Rica
Great place to stay outside La Fortuna
by monica71 about Hotel La Pradera del Arenal
We decided to stay outside of La Fortuna town for the last 2 nights of our stay in the Arenal area. It was too noisy in town and we wanted to find a place to relax and to sleep at night without being woken up by car engine noises.
We had a rented a car for the last 2 days and we had flexibility now. We were able to drive on our own and to find a place to sleep at that was appealing to us. I am so glad we stopped here and decided to stay for 2 nights! The hotel is amazing. I wanted to stay away from the American style hotels and wanted something more private and traditional. This hotel provided exactly what I was looking for! I have added pictures of the room, bathroom and the hotel grounds in the travelogue section. You have your choice of a private cabin or a standard room in a building that has 5 rooms in a row, each one with its own private patio/balcony. We decided to pass on the private cabins since they had only 1 queen bed in the room and I really wanted a room with 2 queen beds (which the standard rooms provided). If you are not in your 20s anymore, you will be glad to stay in a room where you can have your own bed at night. We were pretty sore after all the daily activities and sleeping in a bed alone was exactly what we needed :)
We paid $65 per night, taxes and breakfast included, for a standard room for 2 people. The room was pretty big, it had a remote controlled A/C, a TV and a great bathroom with a shower that could easily accommodate 4 people at the same time. The hot water took no time at all to come and the hot shower felt like a blessing at the end of the day.
The hotel has a nice restaurant on site (a little bit on the pricey side, so we skipped it and ate in town since we had a car) and computers with free internet in the lobby, so you can check your email and browse the web with no problem while staying here. The pool area is very nice and clean and the jacuzzi with hot water is just amazing. We spent time there every day, soaking our sore bodies in the jacuzzi even during the rainy periods of the day. It was nice and warm outside and the rain really did not bother us at all while being in the jacuzzi.
There are several tours that you can book from the hotel, but we booked tours on our own, from the town of La Fortuna. They do have ATVs on site, motorcycles and bicycles that you can rent if you want to.
We really had a great time staying here and we will definitely book a room at this hotel again on our next visit to Arenal. all rooms provide volcano views and you feel like you are sitting at the base of the volcano. There are private patios for every room. Grounds are very well maintained, with lots of birds and flowers. The only noise you here is the one the coming from the birds. They do chirp a lot, but this is much better than the car noises you hear if staying in La Fortuna town.
