Worst "Hotel" Ever

My stay at Villas Vista Arenal was supposed to be 3 fun days July 22-25th. We paid $80/night for the "deluxe villa" which had an in-room jacuzzi and a clear view of the Arenal Volcano. here's my story:

Day1: The exterior of the villa and the hotel grounds were fantastic looking. The villas all face Arenal Volcano and you can wake up with a clear shot of the cone form your bed! The first day is when our neighbors (room20) got ROBBED while having breakfast on the premises. Someone slid up the siding of the villa and crawled in through the opening. They got robbed of all their IDs, passports, credit cards and electronics. Since they were at the hotel restaurant, they didn't think to bring their belongings with them for breakfast. That day, when we returned from dinner, we found our room submerged in 2 INCHES of WATER from the T-storm that rolled through. Anything that was on the floor got soaked.

Day2: we went out the whole day and when we got back to the hotel we found that the POWER WAS OUT. the only hotel in all of La Fortuna that didn't have power was the Villas Vistas. Luckily, we had flashlights. when we got back to the room, the room was flooded and there was the HUGEST COCKROACH ever romping all over our stuff. That's the night we checked out and got our money back for our stay.

I would NOT recommend staying at this place unless you like water, the dark and cockroaches.

Unique Quality: The grounds are really pretty. there are a ton of exotic flowers and also easy access from the road. The unfortunate this is that the back of the villas are facing the jungle, thus the safety factor is non-existent.

The view of the volcano in the morning is great.
