Peace Lodge: Luxury Meets Nature

The service, facilities, views, activities.... all fabulous! The rooms are creative; no comfort is overlooked but you truly feel secluded in the jungle with all the natural furnishings. The bathroom was amazing and featured lots of plants, a waterfall, stained glass and a "rain" shower. We ordered room service (which was surprisingly reasonable price-wise and very delicious) and ate on our covered balcony while a light rain fell then took a dip in our private soaking tub. There was also a hammock on the balcony for a peaceful nap after exploring the park. We had a nice sound system with CD's from several genre's, cable tv and movie's were available to borrow. We had to have laundry done which wasn't cheap but they had it back to us within a couple hours and it was well taken care of. I loved the huge stone fireplace!

As hard as it was, we did actually leave our beautiful room from time to time. The Lodge overlooks the LaPaz Waterfall Gardens and there is much to do. We followed the trail that lead to the 5 huge waterfalls, walked around the trout lake and visited the "casita". But my favorite activity was spending time in the various exhibits and learning about the animals. They have massive enclosures for birds, butterflies, frogs, snakes and some exotic cats. Staying at the lodge, you have the privilege of going into the park during the "closed" hours and experiencing the frogs at night when they are awake.

Staying at the lodge is not cheap but unlimited entrance to the park is included. Stay at least a couple of nights in order to experience it all at a leisurely pace. Don't forget to make reservations for dinner- a 4-course meal.
