Great Place to Stay!

by TripAdvisor Member CaptGail

If you like the outdoors you'll really love this place...The owner's are very nice and accommodating, too. They are very helpful and they have a great place to stay. The treehouses are very modern with all the comforts of a hotel. You will also enjoy breakfast with the hummingbirds.

Costa Rica is truly a beautiful place to visit. You must be pretty adventurous to drive around the country because there aren't major highways but smaller roads of which are winding through mountains. There are several places of interest to stop at along the way.

Again, the treehouses are very clean and nice and we would recommend these to anyone who enjoys the outdoors. The trees and plants on the grounds there are very pretty, too. You won't be sorry if you choose this place to stay during your visit to Costa Rica's Lake/Volcano Arenal area....Tim & Gail Mason

Loved the Tree Houses!

The Tree Houses Hotel in Costa Rica, is the most fun hotel I have ever stayed at! There is so much to do in the area like horseback riding and white water rafting. The people who run the resort are the best! The property is beautiful... there is a waterfall and river on the property. You will see so much wildlife like Toucans, Snakes, and Slothes. I will guarantee you will love it! I recommend this hotel to everyone, 100%.

The vacation of a lifetime!!!!

by TripAdvisor Member alborton

This is the most amazing way to see Costa Rica!!! The treehouses are beautifully constructed and very comfortable to stay in. The owners are wonderful and help you with any and all of your vacation plans. They had great ideas for day trips (which they scheduled for us) as well as restaurant suggestions that were not only tasty but had great
local atmosphere and interesting characters. Costa Rica is a must destination for a vacation of the soul and the best way to experience
the La Fortuna area is in the treehouses! I have traveled the world and I have to say, the treehouse experience is up there in my top 3!!

Unique, authentic Costa Rican experience

by TripAdvisor Member Escaleras

My son and I spent two nights at the Costa Rica Tree Houses Hotel, which turned out to be as authentic and unique a lodging experience as I have had in several trips here. The tree houses are very clean, roomy enough, very comfortable, and have plenty of hot water for showers. Ours had a wraparound balcony which was great for viewing the rain forest or just relaxing. The houses are acutally built on strong steel platforms, rather than perched on branches. The hotel is easy to find, just a couple hours from SJO airport (take the San Ramon road to get there more quickly) and just 25 minutes to La Fortuna and the Arenal Park (take the road directly north, it is much quicker). The new owners are very nice and very accommodating and willing to help with scheduling great side trips like rafting or zipline tours. We had a blast and would highly recommend this small hotel for value, location, and a memorable stay.

AWESOME!!!!

Me and my sister took a vacation to Costa Rica recently. The tree House Hotel was a very cool experience. The staff is excellent. The Nature preserve is so beautiful. We couldn't think of a better place to be more comfortable and experience Costa Rica.

Beautiful

Love the Tree Houses!!! My boyfriend and I stayed at the Tree Houses late July. I regret that it was only for two days. It is so close to all kinds of attractions in the Arenal area. Lots to do. The hotel booked the Pura Vida combo tour for us. I highly recommend it. It is a full day of excursions. If we had been able to stay longer, we definately would have gone back to some of the places we visited...waterfalls, hot springs, etc. Couldn't ask for better hospitality. Our luggage didn't arrive with us to Costa Rica so we had nothing to wear for the hiking/swimming, etc. Kelly was just awesome. She loaned her own clothes and shoes to help us out and then stuck around waiting for the airline to deliver our luggage. We got back from a long day of fun to our luggage neatly placed in our tree house (still can't believe Kelly, such a little thing, lugged our HEAVY luggage up there by herself). The tree houses themselves were very clean and cozy, with hot water and A/C. Oh and I was amazed by all the humingbirds around the breakfast area. The property is well manicured, relaxing, and just beautiful! I can't wait to go back!!

Can't say enough great things about our experience here!!!!

We take our kids on a pretty exciting family trip every year and this experience ranked right up there with our most favorite! Truly a unique vacation experience! The Arenal area was my favorite part of Costa Rica. When we booked with Raeann, we had only planned on staying one night so we could swing past the volcano. She wisely suggested that we should stay AT LEAST two nights. We took her advice and stayed an extra night... We should have stayed longer!! Raeann gave us the names of some reputable tour companies that were wonderful. The Canopy Tour was a definite hi-light and we'll absolutely be doing that again (even our 5 year old went and keeps begging to do it again). The hot springs were amazing! I could go on and on about the Arenal area, but I should also tell you that the Tree houses were everything we hoped for and more!!! Clean, quaint and just rustic enough to make it part of our "Eco-Experience" without feeling like we were roughing it too much. There are only three treehouses, and they're spread out enough that you're really nestled in the jungle. It is really quite cozy. There was a lovely porch on our treehouse that we'd intended to sit at while playing cards, but we ran out of time. BTW, the rooms had refrigerators so we were able to put a stash of adult beverages in there. Raeann has an "honor system" beverage kiosk available too. And they served a wonderful breakfast in the morning that included loads of incredibly fresh fruit. There's a walking path just behind the resort area that takes you to a waterfall... again we ran out of time and weren't able to walk all the way to the waterfall before it got dark, but all along the way were nice little benches for resting if you so chose. (You'll want to bring bug spray... or bug wipes which I packed and found to be very convenient for this trip.)
Right at our hotel we saw: hummingbirds, sloths, monkeys, etc.
If you're looking for a great place for a couple's retreat, or traveling with your family, this would be an excellent choice. (BTW our teenage kids stayed in a neighboring treehouse and we brought walkie talkies so we could keep in touch with them. - This worked very well since the treehouses are just a bit of a jaunt from each other.)

Cool Honeymoon Spot

by TripAdvisor Member MechEric

My wife and I (both in our mid 30's) stayed here on our first 3 nights in Costa Rica. We didn't know what to expect to be honest and heard about it from a mutual friend who recently went to Costa Rica. Needless to say we were blown away when we saw this place. The rooms are at tree level and it definitely captured the tropical forest element we were looking for. The foot of the bed is surrounded by windows and if you leave the curtains open (don't worry about peeping toms, you're too high and isolated) you'll find yourself surrounded by trees. There's a sweet rap around balcony with small tables and chairs if you want to drink some Imperials and enjoy nature. They also have a coffee maker and a mini fridge in the rooms too. The cool thing about Costa Rica is that the sun comes out early and you wake up at 530am to an awesome sight without having to get up out of bed. The only draw back was that the rooms don't have a TV but I suppose if you're staying in a place like that you have to be w/out the TV to fully capture the mood of being in the jungle. There's a nice trail about an hr long that takes you to a waterfall (nothing giant but beautiful nonetheless) and you can swim at the base of the waterfall. We stayed there 3 nights which was perfect and wouldn't recommend that you stay there anytime less than that. The girls that run the place are all very sweet. We had problems with our shower head and front door the 1st day and they fixed it by the time we got back from an activity. They offer home cooking for breakfast which will range from rice and beans to french toast and eggs. Oh yeah, there's always fresh fruit which tastes pretty good. The ladies made arrangements for activities for us (zipline, horseback riding, hiking) and the places they hooked us up with were great. They were very reasonably priced, pretty cheap really, and the people were very nice. There's also a great place to eat local food close by, I forget what they're called but the ladies recommended it. We liked it so much we ate there like 3 times (2x's in one day too). We spent the remainder of our honeymoon (7nites) at Guanacaste at this beach resort so mixing in staying in the rainforest was awesome. This place is reasonably close to La Fortuna (approx 20-25mins) and I would go back in a heartbeat. One thing that tripped me out though was there were no bugs in the room, it was really clean despite being in the tree's and rainforest. It was a romantic way to start off our honeymoon and a place we'll remember forever. I have no complaints at all, it was an awesome place. PURA VIDA!

Nice building

by TripAdvisor Member Dane77

We stayed at the Tree House for a couple of nights and enjoyed it. The building is nice, and it works well with the restaurant situated literally in the canopy of the huge tree in the courtyard. The proprietor and his wife were also very helpful and friendly, and spent quite a lot of time advising us on other places to go in CR. The food in the restaurant is nothing special, and the rooms basic 2-3-star rooms, I guess, but the atmosphere is nice and laid-back. I'd stay there again!

Fantastic place to stay

by TripAdvisor Member WaikikiWanderers

My wife and I stayed at the Tree Houses for four nights and had a fantastic time. Renee and Raeann are the perfect guides and are extremely helpful with tips on what to do around the area. The trail to the waterfall and river is a great little hike with outstanding scenery. You can't get any better than sleeping high off the ground surrounded by the call of the birds and monkeys. Getting a chance to see the various birds come down to feed during breakfast is a treat. We hope to stay there again and highly recommend the Tree Houses.
