In the heart of the Rainforest
The Lodge was perfect. It certainly wasn't luxurious, but I wouldn't go to the rainforest expecting that. I think the best way to describe it would be like staying at the cottage. A nice cottage. Where somebody else cooks fabulous meals. The rooms were small, but very clean and since our visit, they have added 23 cabins overlooking the valley. The great room had a huge fireplace, pool tables, darts, and the bar.
The Lodge is situated on a hillside, with beautiful views of Arenal Volcano, Arenal Lake, and little Coter Lake. They offer canopy tours, fresh water sport fishing, adventure tours, hiking, trekking, bird watching, horse back riding, kayaking, and canoeing, most of which is provided on the property.
Unique Quality: Sometimes somebody tended bar, sometimes you poured your own. No worries! It was probably the most comfortable place I've ever stayed at. If you wanted to go into town, you just told one of the staff, and they would take you. Want to know the best place to see howler monkeys, they'll show you. It was incredible!
