Good accomodations in Tamarindo

It has a great view of the ocean as it is set up on a hill. In addition it has a pool with swim up bar. The wait staff is very good and all the staff is great really. They rent surf boards and give lessons as well a rental car company is located on site. It is a secure site with guards and a guard house.

Getting to Tamarindo from Liberia

by aniab11

Hi,

I'm going to Tamarindo in late November with, and we're flying to Liberia. There are 4 of us, and we are thinking of renting a car, but I'm curious if anyone knows what a tax cab might cost from the airport in Liberia to Tamarindo?

Also, does anyone have tips on whether it's better to rent a car here from the states, or once we get to Costa Rica?

Thank you,
Ania

Hi! When I was in Costa Rica in 2002, there were no gas stations in Tamarindo. People there did have cars, you just had to be mindful of the gas situation. Taxis (or private cars) are very inexpensive in Costa Rica, although I don't have any info on exactly how much it would cost. However, if there are four of you, it should be pretty cheap.

Honestly it is best to rent a car when you arrive in Costa Rica. To be honest, what is really best is to have a tour guide pick you up. It is a reasonable way to travel around Costa Rica. It is not an expensive destination and much better to have someone that knows the areas drve you around. A taxi would be expensive and not the very best option.

If you would like some assistance with your tirp please let me know b/c I live part time in Costa RIca.

renting car is easy down there. just remember that riving is bad, roads are terrible. if your going to stay around that area i would not bother with there car . taxis , buses are cheap.
Driving at night is a big no...... roads are bad enough during the day...
hav fun, great place.
