a crowded campground
Playa Tamarindo offers lots of types of accomodation only don't expect to arrive there on December, 31 and find a room, unless you are willing to pay 140 US$, the only alternative of which was the campground... it's supposed to be for 6 tents but... not around the New Year Eve... does it give you an idea if I say that my pegs were almost knocked in the neighbour's tent and that it took me more than two hours of queue to use one of the two showers... after a few curious looks asking what tourists (the only gringos in that campground) were doing there, the smiles became an habit and I even tried to reply to the speeches I was addressed with my poor Spanish...

the hombre español...
to be honest the room in the pic is the only one I can show you and tell you about as I was too thrilled to have find a place at my first try at playa Grande when I discovered the place and decided to spend at least my last day at the seaside there and this was the only remaining room, near the restaurant but nevertheless quiet and with privacy anyway I know there are others rooms in the back of the restaurant...

Casa Rosa Beach House: Great ocean setting
The Casa Rosa beach house is a private house which is about 10 minutes from the town of Tamarindo. The beach is close to Playa Langosta, which is far nicer than Playa Tarmindo.
It's a very lovely setting, and the owner is very approachable.
The owner had a ton of beach equipment that could be used by anyone staying here. That includes surf boards, boogie boards, and snorkling equipment

Rental Homes: RPM
RPM had a great selection of very nice houses and Rick and Eduardo were great and helpful. We stayed in Puesta Del Sol, by Playa Langosta. A very very nice house.

Casa Tuaniz: cute vacation rental
I rented the surf shack for 2 weeks while i stayed in tamarindo. The owners filled me in on the local scene and occasionally fed me a gourmet meal. The property has several other units all of which are very charming and somewhat affordable...cheaper than a hotel...more than a hostel.
peace, quite, a pool, and lots of hammocks.

La botella de leche: Hostel
Very clean and friendly hostel. Access to kitchen facilities and wide screen tv for hostel guests.
Nice place to rest at after months of dirty hostels with limited facilities. The tv-area was outstanding, a really big couch and satalite tv.

Las Palapas: Waterfront...that's all I can say
Cabinas on the main road...has great staff and is very friendly with all your needs. Very affordable and right next to Tamarindo Surf and many restaurants and shops. It is not huge property, but very quaint and has beautiful sunsets. The people at the front desk helped with activities, like tree canopies and more...
Air conditioning, clean, and friendly staff...close to everything.
