Hotel Domilocos: A bit more fancy, more private
This was the first hotel we went and checked but did not stay because it was over our budget.
Domilocos is quite famous in the area for those that don't mind spending a bit more. It is tucked away off the main road southward in Domincal. IMO great for those wanting more privacy. The place is still close to the beach but slightly away from the main biz area in Dominical. The building itself is more like a petite hotel than most other cabinas in the area.
I don't know why they were quoting us $75 for 2 person a night when we went. Should be cheaper. But anyway we did not choose to stay there.
Will check out their restaurant in future though as their pastas are very good as we were told.
Unique Quality: Privacy. Italian restaurant. More hotel like versus other cabinas in the area.

Que Nivel: The one with a sushi restaurant in front
We drove past Dominical so many times over the years and last Feb we decided to spend a night there.
Stayed at this surfers friendly cabinas called Que Nivel. Rooms have AC , for 2person was about 40 USD a night, We stayed half a day past check out time and they only charged us 5000c more.
It is the only cabinas that has its own sushi bar in front. The check in counter is the bar btw, sweet. Staffs were friendly and they spoke good English. We actually tried some tuna sashimi, it was fresh, about 28 USd for that plate Not the best we ever had but it was fine. Beer price was reasonable for the area.
Room was basic but clean. AC was strong enough. The bathroom was a bit funky with it's stoney decor. Everything worked. It even had hot water in the shower.
If you can , don't get the room right next to the bar, it can get noisy at night when busy.
Close to the beach and other establishments, net cafe...etc. We will go back again because of their AC.
If AC is not a deal breaker , there are other choices. We liked there though.
Unique Quality: AC.
Has bar/restaurant and a Sushi Bar.

Shelter From the Storm: Fantastic Little Hotel near Dominical
My husband and I found a fantastic little hotel between Dominical and Uvita, Costa Rica. It's perched on the mountainside overlooking the Pacific Ocean, high enough to get a lovely breeze, yet close enough to hear the surf on the rocks. The setting is gorgeous; lush jungle with tons of wildlife, flowers, a lovely pool/rancho area, and 4 unique private villas. Our villa was wonderful, equipped with a full gourmet kitchen, open living and sleeping area, a beautiful tiled bath with a huge walk-in shower, and dramatic views of Coronado Bay and the Oso Penninsula. From our veranda we saw troops of monkeys, incredible birds, huge blue butterflies, even a sloth. We saw more wildlife from our villa than we did in 3 weeks at National Parks! Some of my most memorable moments in Costa Rica were relaxing at this hotel.
This hotel was immaculate: the bed was comfortable, the furniture was gorgeous, and our villa was really beautiful and distinctive. Everything we needed was already there! Yet the price was very reasonable, similar to what we paid for normal hotels, much less than luxury hotels. The hosts Daryl and Donna were great. They helped us book a horseback ride to a waterfall and recommended several wonderful beaches and restaurants.
This is not your typical hotel! In fact, this may be the nicest, most interesting place we've ever stayed. We definitely plan on staying here again.
Unique Quality: The views from these villas are fantastic! The villas are spacious, open and beautiful, and the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. Plus the rates are incredibly cheap for what you get!

Casi el Cielo: Almost Heaven...maybe better!
If money is not an object, try "Almost Heaven", also known as Casi el Cielo. Everything about it is impeccable. The view to the "Whale Tail" and the Osa Penninsula is truly fantastic.

Beach Budget
My friends and I got a package from the surf camp which included accomodations. We weren't looking for a 5 star hotel so we took the cheapest package. Most of our time was spent out on the beach or day tripping. We stayed at Tortilla Flats. It's attached to a restaurant/bar under the same name. It's pretty much where everyone goes. The rooms come with an a/c or fan option. Each room came with a hammock on the front porch which was always nice to lounge in. Dominical is VERY humid so be prepared for some stinky towels. There is a laundromat about a 10 minute walk away. The cleaning lady comes in every other day and the staff are super friendly and super nice. The room was a bit cramped for the 4 of us, our luggage and boards. If you're not too hung up on how modern and up-to-date your accomodations are then, it's not so bad. The beach is right on your front porch. The rooms are very basic with a bathroom, beds and a fan or a/c. No phones or TV. All in all, not so bad.

Tortilla Flats: Domincal's Coolest Place to Stay
Torilla Flats was great! We only had to walk a few steps to the beach and there was a restaurant on the premise that was arguably the best in the town.
Unique Quality: The staff was really welcoming and fun.
