San Jose airport to Jaco

hey guys,
we have a reservation at the Los Suenos Marriot near Jaco City. We arrive August 1st at 10am at San Jose airport and want to get there right away. What are the best public transportation possibilities? Do we have to go into san jose city first? When the airport bus brings us to the center, where do we find the bus to Jaco from there?

Try the Coca Cola bus terminal. It is one of hte biggest bus terminals in San jose and usually has buses to most destinations.

Woody is right. We took the Trasnportes Jaco bus from the Coca Cola bus terminal to Jaco. It cost $3 each way. Our bus left at 11am, but they run regularly. You can purchase your return ticket there too, to make sure you have a seat when you come back.

Hi-we've been to Los Suenos x 3 n LOVE IT.The drive is approximately 1 hr from airport - we always arranged private trans. thru the hotel, they are waiting for you after clring customs, extremely polite and clean vehicles. Fare is approx $110. - contact Patricia Rodriguez thru the hotel. The canopy zip lines are a must and we always enjoy horse bckriding. Manual Antonio park is amazingly beautiful - plenty of hiking and the most beautiful beaches. Excellent restaurants 5 min from hotel right on the beach - El Pelacanio and right next to it Soda Marquessa - 4 min taxi.In Jaco, every Tues or Wed pm at the El Hiddaco s/p? seafood buffet - including all the lobster u can eat w/cocktails for approx $50pp. We prefer to rent a car thru the hotel-cheapest available, esp w/gas being so high, and explore the area. So beautiful and so much to offer -but being built up every yr :( Los Suenos offers the best ceviche EVER!! Hope this helps let me know if you have any further questions.

It is a major hassle to try and take the public bus from the airport to Jaco. You have to travel 30 minutes in the opposite dirction into San Jos and the Coca Cola bus station, and hop you find the right bus. Plus that bus terminal is notorious for theft, crime, and pick pockets. Definately not worth the hassle and risk!
A private transfer is the best way to go. Sure it costs mor ethan the bus, but it is safer, quicker, and less stressful. If you reserve private transfer service there will be a driver waiting for you to exit the airport doors and holding a sign with your name on it. That's the way to go for sure!
We use the folks at jacotourdesk@yahoo.com to provide us and our guests with airport transfer service and they do a great job. I suggest you go that route for the best experinces.

one piece and carry on(unless you can fit in one carry on) little as possible, you can wash your clothes every day if possible. Bathing suit and shorts with a few tops. Nothing formal. Comfortable flip flops and a pair of tennis shoes for walking. No umberellas-too much trouble for the price. No jewerly-who do you know that you have to compete with!!! soap, shampoo ,wash cloth, suncreen, small first aid kit, DEET for bugs and your main medical medicine that you take every day. Also TUMS!!! I also get a prescription for the "VIRUS" just in case, that I take everyday. Otherwise bring Imodim AD. Your own camera that will go in the purse or pocket. Don't leave it anywhere!!!!!

Went for a week in Costa Rica , in an Hotel with an all Includes , the name of this hotel is the Best Western Jaco Beach hotel....
Very nice place , good food , nice room and warm employees !
They did throw the niciest New Year party I've ever been yet in my life was with my daughter 17 and she had as more fun than me....
Did some visit of the area , will have to return one of these days but for at least 3 weeks to enjoy the most cause roadway are messy and cause some hell of traffic jam........84 km in 3 and 1/2 hours is representative of the speed and traffic that you have to get...
Still nice forest , mountain , animal , birds , people and some beach are very nice....
