This place is really nice. The house has basic, but nice rooms. We slept very nice to the sounds of the waves hitting the beach. The hotel is located a few minutes walk on the beach from the center of the town.
The hotel is situated on the beach, so when you step out of the hotel you are on the beach. In the palms in front of the hotel you can put up your hammock and enjoy the day. Close to the hotel on the beach there is a little cafe. Room at El Sano Banano by sean420 Located right in central Montezuma above the El Sano Banano restaurant. When we arrived the hotel was pretty empty so they let us pick wichever room we wanted. Most of the rooms faced the back of the hotel and did not have a view. We chose one of the three rooms that looked out over the street and was surprisingly quiet even when music was blasting from Chico's bar a half block away. Everybody at the hotel was very helpful and friendly.
The rooms have good air conditioning and satellite TV with some channels in English. They play movies on a projection screen downstairs every night and are free with dinner or if you buy a few drinks. They have a sister hotel, the Ylang-Ylang resort located up the beach where you are able to use their beautiful pool. It's a bit of a hike to get there but worth it! Breakfast is included with your room but some of the food was pretty average. The banana pancakes are good as well as the fruit with yogurt and granola. The mocha chiller drinks are awesome! There is also an internet cafe next door with a so-so connection. They can take your pictures from your digital camera and burn them onto acd rom so you can free up your memory card. Monetzuma is absolutely gorgeous - Los Mangos a true fantasy island setting. Don't expect posh - you are in the jungle, this is a gorgeous bohemian style beach cabina resort within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. The evening walks to town were along side iguanas, the days were spent dodging mangoes being thrown by howler monkeys from the trees on the beach! Some of my favorite jewelry is from the town of montezuma... the streets are bustling with crafts and vibrant personalities from around the world.
This is an absolutely gorgeous setting, trees dripping with mangoes and natural gardens.. situated in the picturesque little beach town of Monezuma.

by dawnmc We had a hard time finding a cheap place to stay in Montezuma. We ended up with a double for about $20 here but it was pretty nice with a private bath. The beach in front doesnt have much sand but standing out on the rocks you can watch the surfers. It was pretty quiet at night as its away from all the bars in town. Overall a nice place to stay. by Linnea13 The Pension Arenas is a little house that has been divided up into rooms both dormitory style and singles, with shared bathrooms and showers. The owner is mostly likely the happiest and friendliest person on the planet and can be helpful with local information. My shared room cost me US$5 per night.
Pension Arenas is on the beach and about a 2 minute walk to the center of Montezuma. You sleep to the sound of the waves hitting the beach, and howler monkeys howling in the distance. View from the porch by tyler-durden Small room with a twin bed, small fan and your own bathroom. Pretty warm during the night. Nice porch to sit on that is right on the ocean. Only $20 per room.

Drying Cloths by andy21 A nice place a bit outside the town. 3-4 mins to walk. They do laundry. Cold showers and short walk to the beach.

Not that great. I stayed in nicer places than this, but I was on a budget. The showers were cold but worked fine. My view out the window was directly into the neighbors window, covered with a poster of a Hindu god (I couldn't tell you which one). Keep the window locked, you could shake hands with them it was that close. But it was quiet, away from the bars at the bottom of the hill so you'll sleep fine. The owners aren't exactly friendly, but they won't rip you off and make sure everything's relatively clean and working. There's nicer places in Montezuma, but unless you have a tent this is the cheapest.
Locally owned and operated. Help em out. Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: Go up the hill, Cabinas will be on your left at the top. Across the street from El Jardin.

Shared Bathroom by Diverdan28 Very pleasant spot on the hill leading out of town. The climb up the hill can be a bit strenuous after a big dinner and few drinks but its worth it. The rooms were clean and the bedding and towels quite new. The shared baths were also very clean. Each couple of cabins has a shared refrigerator and sink area for preparing small meals. Large fans in the rooms keep it reasonably cool. The cabins are built on the hill with concrete steps leading up to the shared baths and the lounge at the top. The lounge has a satellite TV with a zillion channels if you are longing to touch base with the world. If you need to visit the bath after dark, take a flashlight. The steps are dark and if you miss one, the fall can be nasty. Try to get cabin #6- best view. Only drawbacks- not much water in the showers in late afternoon. A few holes in the window screens but mosquito nets were provided. Never saw one in the 3 nights I stayed.
Great views from the small patio area. Get up at sunrise and take a coffee on the small patio next to the lounge area. Listen to the Howler monkees roar as the sun comes up.
