macaw sanctuary and monkey feeding
First let me highly recommend Dimas, who was our tour guide and picked us up at the Fiesta Hotel, while we were on a Caravan Tour. Dimas had cold water or beer for us (we don't drink, but a nice touch nonetheless) First stop was at a house where a woman met us with a big bunch of bananas. We looked up to the trees and there we saw many many monkeys (I think spider or capuchin) and we proceeded to feed them (as in pic) Then we went on several bumpy long roads until we got to a little place I like to call heaven. The macaw sanctuary not only had macaws flying free all over in a sparkling array of colors, but all types of monkeys, including howler, capuchin and spider monkeys roaming free in the trees. In addition, there are several resident three toed sloths hanging around. As a nature and parrot lover, I thought I had died and gone to parrot heaven.
Dimas was the best as a tour guide and this trip was so much better than the 6 hour (or more) round trip excursion Caravan had planned for the Manuel Antonio park. He even emailed me wonderful picture which complemented the ones we had taken. We were the envy of our entire tour trip, two other people actually overheard us talking about planning this and got their own driver to take them.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND
