Lest we forget the mighty crustacean
You never know who you are going to bump into in Costa Rica. If you are going to walk around at night (or even in the daytime for that matter) I'd strongly suggest that you wear shoes. More creatures are out and about at night than during the day. We had been told all about the tarantulas, but I never expected to see this largest blue crab hunkered down under the porch of our Tortuguero lodge.
That pincer looks as if it could impart quite a startling tweak.
