Hello-
I am flying into Liberia, not San Jose, what is the best quickest way to get to Arenal. Also, what is a great place to stay while in Arenal? I am looking for something in the price range of $100-150 USD, something that is more of a resort, since we will be spending a lot of time outside hiking. Any good restaurants to go to while we are there, or things to do? We will be there at the end of March.

I don't know about public transportation, we rent a car and drove around. Nut we've done that route the other way around - there's a main and quite good road until the lake arenal. The road around the lake it's not as good, but it's alright.
Will you be staying in Arenal the village, or just somewhere near the Volcano Arenal?... When we visit the volcano we stayed at the village of La Fortuna. While there we stayed in some very nice bungalows with amazing Volcano views. Nothing to fancy, but very nice and private. It's called Lomas del Volcan and it's a mile from the village.

Good options for a place to stay would be Arenal Paraiso, Lost Iguana, Montana de Fuego. Arenal Paraiso has a volcano heated pool with swim up bar, its own zip line, and spa offerings. The rooms are nice but simple. Breakfast is very good.
Quickest way would be to rent a car and drive or have a driver arranged to meet you and take you. It is about a 3-4 hr drive. Do allow time to get there before dark, the last part of that trip is not something you will want to do in the dark. Dark is around 6pm.
