An excellent base
My old college roommate and I have just returned from a 14 day vacation to Costa Rica. Since our Spanish is very limited, before leaving the USA we looked at Trip Advisor reviews---- hoping to find a hotel that would meet most of our needs. The Adventure Inn seemed to offer exactly what we were looking for. It's located between the airport and San Jose, the rates are very reasonable (especially if you pay in cash), and it's a modern and extremely clean place. In addition, English is spoken by many employees, thus making check-in and ordering food in the restaurant very easy. For those wishing not to brave driving (it can be "extremely stressful"), transportation (tours) to most major tourist spots are available through the hotel. In short, the vast majority of the reviews we read almost seemed too good to be true. However, after spending 7 nights at the hotel (it makes an excellent base) I can honestly say the Adventure Inn lived up to our expectations. Every employee we had contact with went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Though not luxurious, it is a very comfortable and friendly place--- thus we were completely safisfied with the overall experience. For our needs, it was perfect. Should either of us ever return to Costa Rica, we will stay there again.
