Air Crew Layovers
I booked this hotel for our first night in Costa Rica because I was familiar with it - having stayed here many times on layovers for work. It was a little closer to the city than the airport and farther from the airport than the hotel we stayed at the end of the tip (Hampton Inn).
Unique Quality: The Hotel has its own outdoor swimming pool, casino and variety of gambling games, souvenir shop, 24hour medical service, free parking, car rental offices and a local tour operator.

Any recomendation of Hotels in downtown San Jose?
I am going to visit Costa Rica at september, and I will stay at San Jose for couple weeks for a dental surgery, I have found this hotel www.pensiondelacuesta.com , it says it is located at Avenida 1 , 50meters west from regitro civil. The website and hotel looks nice and cheap but is it a nice neighborwood and safe? Any comment or suggestion will be very helpful!

Downtown San Jose is not very safe in general, you'd be better around la Sabana park area it's a few minutes walk to downtown with metropolitan park which is very nice and safe for walking, lots of restaurants, museums and other activities. Also you'll find a few economic hotels and guest houses like Casa Girasol safe, clean, nice rooms, gread staff and offer multiple organized tours. Hotel El Sesteo nice hotel with pool, safe. Hostel Mariposa and Gaudy's are backpackers places with shared rooms, Sabana B&B offers a very nice setting also, and other more luxurious places like tryp Corobici.

I have a friend undergoing prolonged dental services and is there every 3 months. He swears by Casa Roland which was recommended by his dentist.
