Airport Shuttle from International Airport to Aurola Holiday Inn in San Jose

by LeoKlohr

We are looking for an airport shuttle from the international airport (CR SJO) provided by the Aurola Holiday Inn in San Jose. We have reservations at the Aurola and arrive at the airport 9:40 PM.

Thank you.

i am unaware of a shuttle service unless the hotel offers one. a taxi should cost $18-20.

If they have a shuttle they would be the best ones to ask about it. When I stayed there I do not recall them having one but that was a couple of years ago.

If there is one and you have made arrangements with the hotel for them to pick you up there will probably be someone with your name on a piece of paper at the exit or the hotel will tell you where to find the bus.

by drolkar

The TEATRO NACIONAL, built in the 1890s, is architecturally impressive. It hosts plays, operas, ballets and performances by the National Symphony Orchestra. Also worth visiting is the MERCADO CENTRAL, which offers goods ranging from live turkeys to leatherwork and some of the cheapest meals in town. Personally, I enjoyed people-watching in the PARQUE CENTRAL that is just in front of LA CATEDRAL (along Avenida 2).... When the weather is fine, everyone goes there to socialize and take in the sunshine!

La Sabana

by penumbra

At the west end of downtown is a huge wooded park, La Sabana, that was the original airport for San Jose. It has since been converted into a series of athletic parks with a soccer stadium in the north-west corner. The park is ideal for running, walking, sports or picnicking.

In the restaurant section I recommended the 'Balcon de Europa' restaurant, not for its food but for the interior decoration. Also, the wood used for the floor and walls belongs to a tree that's now on the endangered species list.

Here's a picture to show what I'm talking about. This place is located on Calle 9, between Ave. 1 & Central, real close to the Hotel Presidente.

To the Caribbean Coast from San José

by Pieter11

When you are coming from San José and you are heading for the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica, you will have to go to the so called "Caribe Terminal" in the capital. From here busses depart to several destinations in the eastcoast of the country. One destination these busses will always go to is Puerto Limón. This is the biggest city in this part of the country and one of the biggest in the whole of Costa Rica.

The busride from the capital to Puerto Limón takes about 3,5 hours and costs 2000 Colones: about 4 dollars. From here you can take a connecting bus further south to the villages Cahuita, Puerto Viejo, Bribri and others. From here you can also get a bus directly to the border with Panama.

At the Caribe busstation in San José there are also busses that cover the complete distance to Cahuita, Puerto Viejo or the border. These busses run less frequently, bus if you miss one of these busses it is always easy to get another connection once you are in Limón.

there are so many resturants here everything from McDonalds to a Tony Romas(opening soon), but the best resturants are the small out of the way ones. I really liked the black beans with rice and fried green bannans and steak
