4+ star resort without the price tag
by dankovic about Barcelo Cayo Largo Resort
The Barcelo Cayo Largo resort is a 4+ star resort, with lots of frills and activities on the grounds. The rooms are very clean, and equiped with all the necesities (fridge, tv, phone dryer, lamps etc). Great friendly staff that is constantly present and just waiting for you to start up a conversation with them. Lots of activities on site like ping pong tables, pool equiped with nets for waterpolo, basketball and volleyball court, jacuzzi, rent-a-bikes(to survey the little island), etc. as well as a free fast food restaurants open all day long. At the time I went in 2004 a huricanne blew away a lot of the sand from the beach right in front of the resort and exposed a lot of stone, although the beach was quite good nevertheless. So when we didnt want to go to that one there is a beach about 15 minutes away, with the little train, that was straight out of a dream (there was a free drinks bar there as well). The best thing on the beach was the catamaran ride, we went about a mile away in about 15 minutes, pretty cool. The only complaint is the fact that it is secluded so there isnt much of a nightlife, there is the standard nightly cabaret and the bars, so unless there is a large crowd of party people it may be a little dry.

The food and service was solid, I especially like the omlett bar and the dinner grill :) The only complaint is the fact that it is secluded so there isnt much of a nightlife, there is the standard nightly cabaret and the bars, so unless there is a large crowd of party people it may be a little dry.
by fga

Cayo Largo DIY Fishing Ban
by jfly
There is now a complete Do it Yourself fishing Ban on Cayo Largo.
There have been reports of harassment, equipment confiscation and fines for people caught fishing from shore.
The culprit is the Avalon Fishing Club who has bought exclusive fishing rights to the whole area.
You can fish with them for $3000 to $5000 for week
Don't go to Cayo Largo if you want to fish for fun

The information here is good, however it will either:-
Be deleted, because it is not a question.
Or
It will be lost as it vanishes down the travel forum.
May I suggest that you write it up as a travel tip, on your travel pages here at VT?
Once it is written up, it can be viewed by other members.
