This propertu offers standard rooms and Junior Suites as well (over the water). It is mostly accupied by Canadians but there are also people from otyer parts.... if you speak English or French , you'll be fine here....
Good is excellent. Beach is beautiful. I would say one of the top 5 all -inclusive family resorts in Cuba right now.
El Senador, A Fabulous Resort on Cayo Coco
by Tryla about Junior Suite
The hotel room was spotless and the maid surprised us everyday with ducks (swans) made out of the towels and placed on the bed or the bed was made differently everyday. I could hardly wait each day to see what the maid had done to make our room more beautiful. The room was large with a nice bathroom which included a bidet. The Junior Suites also have an adjoining room with a sofa bed, chair and table with doors that close for privacy. There is also a hairdryer but bring your own conditioner as they only provide shampoo and lotion. There is a free in-room safe and a fridge. They provide bottled water each day. There are two large pools, one that has daily activities such as pool volleyball and the other pool is known as the "quiet pool". There is an adult pool and a children's pool as well. The resort is large so we just went to the pool that was closest to our room which was the "quiet pool". The pool bartender was the best! I don't drink alcohol but he made the best non-alcoholic Pina Coladas. :-)
Service at all the restaurants that we went to was excellent. Tipping is not required as it was an All Inclusive vacation but a $1.00 Amercian tip was gratefully accepted and considered to be adequate. If we left a $1.00 tip in Canada I'm afraid it would be thrown back at you. The food was good but I am not a gourmet eater so I am easily pleased. Bring your own pepper as their pepper is tasteless. Also bring lots of gifts for the maid, bartender or anyone that provides you with service. They love gum, candy, cosmetics, T-Shirts, hats, etc. anything that they are unable to purchase in Cuba. You will benefit from giving these gifts as much as the people receiving them. Just watch the smile on their faces - it is reward enough. The beach is beautiful and we walked the length of the island to explore every spot.
We did not take any of the tours that were offered for an extra charge but other guests that we spoke to recommended the boating and snorkeling trip.
Each night there are colourful costumed shows put on by the staff and there is a disco. There are also tennis courts and a gym.

El Senador A newer resort owned my Ex NHL hockey Players of the Montreal Canadians. We met many famous hockey players. The food was amazing. We had plates piled high with Lobster, and Shrimps. The cigar lounge was very relaxing. The staff spoke was great and very accomodating. The pools were beautiful, sight-seeing was great... The international drinks were great. The only things is it was cool in January and their were a lot of Jelly Fish on the BEach and near shore.
Amazing Experience

This was my first trip to the Caribbean and I must say El Senador was a great place to stay in Cuba. Despite the entire resort not being open the first day (they were preparing to open the entire resort the next day for high season) it was still very enjoyable. The staff was amazing. The Cuban people are some of the most friendly and caring people I've ever met. The buffet was pretty good and the a la carte restaurants were enjoyable. The pools are very nice as well as the rooms. The beach was amazing and we were lucky to get great weather. If I was to name a downside to the trip it would have to be witnessing some vacationers complaining about every little thing that wasn't perfect. I must say, I'm willing to deal with my room's air conditoner not being ice cold, cause if i wanted ice cold I've have stayed in Canada! The resort was beautiful, the people were amazing and I highly recommend staying at El Senador.
Cayo Coco - Paradise On Earth?
by CAROLINEARCHER
Cayo Coco is an island in central Cuba, well known for its luxury all inclusive resorts. It lies within the Ciego de Ávila Province and is part of a chain of islands called Jardines del Rey ("King's Gardens").
The cay is linked to the mainland by an artificial causeway some 27km long.
The construction caused concern among environmentalists as it disturbed the tidal flow and thus life-cycle of waterlife. Despite fears, the wild flamingos still live in the shallow waters and can often be seen from the causeway although not as often as before the construction. A number of gaps were subsequently created in the causeway to restore water flow.
The island of Cayo Coco is linked by a natural causeway to Cayo Guillermo. Still largely wild with swamps and scrubland, the islands boast about a dozen large international hotels spread out. Beaches are very good and the massive coral reef off the north coast attracts divers from around the world. Resorts in the area include NH Krystal Laguna Villas & Resort (formerly El Senador), Melia Cayo Coco, Gaviota Playa Coco, Blau Colonial Cayo Coco, Tryp Cayo Coco, and Sol Cayo Coco.
It also has its own international airport, the Cayo Coco Airport (Aeropuerto Jardines del Rey) (IATA: CCC, ICAO: MUCC). Since 2005 tourists can fly directly in to the airport on Cayo Coco rather than to an airport on the mainland.
Cayo Coco is a paradisiacal place relevant for the balance and degree of preservation of the ecosystem it has attained , by protecting its virgin atmosphere isolated from modern world
Its beach is 10 Km long, of fine sand and warm and crystal-clear waters
A privileged reserve for flora and fauna, this key hosts species such as the wading birds, particularly the coconut the island was named after, the gray heron, and the pink flamingo which total over 30 000 and is among the biggest herds in the world. It is also favorite habitat for other bird species such as the cormorant, woodpecker, mockingbird, pelicans and many duck species.
A 10-30 Mt. coral reef, over 10 Km long, adds more attraction to the place; the diversity and abundance of marine species make divers feel in a real aquarium.
