Good for budget

Beltran de Santa Cruz was the mansion of a French marquis in the old dyas and has a very special atmosphere. You can feel the early Colonial period here with columns, window shutters and building ornaments. Even there’s a museum room in the building.

The hotel is in the heart of Old Havana. There was a friendly staff. Rooms were located around a small courtyard. My room was big enough and decorated according to the theme of the hotel. Linens were not so clean, but towels were changed everyday. Mini bar was full. Bathtub was looking in bad condition and shower head was broken, but they fixed it. There's no instant hot water. You should ask from the reception to turn on the hot water.

The hotel breakfast was very poor.

To sense the air of colonial era, Beltran is a good choice among boutique hotels in Old Havana.

Unique Quality: Architecture and atmosphere.

Duke of Orleans stayed here

Unique Quality: The 11-room establishment is an elegant 18th-century house, very close to Plaza Vieja (Old Square). It is a cozy hotel where modern and antique elements are perfectly combined, highlighting the originality of its attractive design. This house of noble origin, built by the parents of Gabriel Beltrán de Santa Cruz, the first Count of San Juan de Jaruco, later belonged to the descendants of the illustrious Marquis of Cárdenas de Monte Hermoso.

According to history, the building received some of the most distinguished personalities who visited the city during that period, including the German naturalist Alexander von Humboldt, the Count of Beaujolais, and the Dukes of Montpensier and Orleans. Precisely, the Duke of Orleans later became King Louis Philippe I of France.
