At the beginning we were a little discouraged when arrived at Sevilla for a 3 nights stay: we were given a first floor room, with a strong smell of mildew and no possibility of opening the window. They got us another room for the next day: nice sights and really comfortable. Good sized rooms, with usual facilities: hairdryer, Satellite TV. No minibar or room service. Breakfast was included and was fine, with variety enough and tasty tropical fruits.
Al principio nos quedamos un poco decepcionados cuando llegamos al Sevilla para una estancia de 3 noches: nos dieron una habitacion en el primer piso, que olia mucho a humedad y sin posibilidad de abrir la ventana. Al dia siguiente nos consiguieron otra habitacion: bonitas vistas y muy comoda. Habitaciones de buen tamanho, con los servicios habituales: secador de pelo, TV satelite. Sin minibar ni servicio de habitaciones. El desayuno buffet estaba incluido y estaba bien, con mucha variedad y buenas frutas tropicales.
Sofitel Sevilla is the only hotel in Old Havana with a swimming pool and it's worth to have it: it's relaxing to enjoy a bath after a day walking and sightseeing with so much humidity.
The patio bar is really nice: fresh and with Cuban musicians playing and singing. They serve snacks and good drinks.
Location is most convenient for sightseeing. 5 minutes walking to Cathedral, Plaza de Armas, Capitolio and a lot of things to do and see.
Another interesting thing about this hotel is its historical background: Al Capone hired a whole floor, Graham Greene stayed at the Sevilla and mentioned it in his novel "Our man in Havana". All these facts and some other are displayed at the lobby walls
El Sofitel Sevilla es el unico hotel de la Habana Vieja con piscina y vale la pena tenerla: es relajante darse un banho despues de todo el dia paseando y viendo cosas con tanta humedad en el ambiente.
El bar del patio esta muy bien: fresco y con un grupo cubano tocando. Sirven comidas ligeras y buena bebida.
Esta situado en el mejor sitio para hacer turismo. A cinco minutos caminando de la Catedral, Plaza de Armas, capitolio y de un monton de cosas para hacer y ver.
Otra cosa interesante sobre el Sevilla es su pasado: Al Capone alquil? una planta completa y Graham Greene se aloj? aqu? y lo menciona en su novela "Nuestro hombre en la Habana". Estos hechos y algunos otros se muestran en las paredes del lobby.

The Sevilla Biltmore, as it was known before the Revolution, was one of the establishments owned and run by Havana?s Mafia network. Santo Trafficante Junior had shares in it and the Cuban-Italian owner, Amletto Battisti, was the kingpin of the city?s lottery racket. The hotel has a rather curious layout but its public areas are very attractive. The prevailing decorative style is, as one would expect, Andalusian, with a profusion of lustre-glazed cuerda seca tiles. The lobby and courtyard bar are welcoming and the Sevilla is one of the only three hotels in the area with a pool (the other two are the Parque Central and the Saratoga).
We had a lovely breakfast here and checed a couple of times the Internet - unfortunately not very succesfully as the conncetion was really slow.
This seemed to us the most expensive hotel in Havana during Christmas with $270 rate for the double room.. Leave a Comment

We selected this hotel because this hotel is maneged by Sofitel what is French canpany, When we went to Dominica. we stayed old town's hotel it's managed by Sofitel.It's so nice that we selected this hotel.
You can enjoy typcal cuban salsa music in this Hotel. This band is called "Trio Los Astros"
This hotel is located in old town of Havana.
If you go to sightseeing , it'll be very convienience for you.

So next to "Hotel Park View" but as a member of the "Accord" group - i think the best payable Hotel in Habana
A nice swimmingpool - even as no guest - you can get entrance for a three dollar fee - towel included - Ingrid and Claudine knows more - Jan and i just had a couple of drinks - in Park View !!

Air conditioning that's quiet!!! a great lobby bar where you can chill out listening to local music,Centrally located .and Character, you would never guess it's part of a chain.
The only downside is the breakfast, served in a room that's seen better days,and a selection that rapidly runs out the later you dine.
Excellent view from our room.

With nearly five centuries of history, Havana, the capital of the largest Antillean Island, has many attractions to meet the needs of the most demanding visitors, ranging from its culture and traditions to world-famous hotels.
Among the latter is the Sevilla Hotel, which opened in 1908 after several years of hard construction works, which were begun by the investment company El Guardián in 1880.
Architects got their inspiration from the Moorish lines of the Patio de los Leones at the Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain, in a style that stands out because of its arches, columns and many tiles.
During the first years of operations, its colonial style, exquisite decoration and the comfort of its initial 300 rooms and nine apartments, along with its location in Havana's historic heart, made the Sevilla Hotel one of the most visited hotels in the Cuban capital.
The magnificence of the building turned the hotel into the place par excellence where major social events took place, especially in its Roof Garden, which became the meeting hall in vogue at the time.
The Sevilla Hotel has been visited by many distinguished guests from all walks of life and countries, who have given the establishment a touch of distinction within the select group of classic hotels in Cuba's tourist sector.
Currently owned by the Cuban group Gran Caribe and run by the French consortium Accor, under its brand Sofitel, the Sevilla Hotel welcomed the U.S. famous star Josephine Baker, who was declared an illustrious guest after the Nacional Hotel refused to receive her.
Other famous artists who stayed at the Sevilla Hotel were Italian opera singer Enrico Caruso, Mexican actors Jorge Negrete and Germán Valdés (Tin Tan), Argentinean singers and actors Hugo del Carril and Libertad Lamarque, Spanish singer Lola Flores and US actor Errol Flynn.
Among the sports personalities who stayed in the hotel were Cuba's José Raúl Capablanca (world chess champion), Joe Louis (world heavyweight boxing champion) and Luis Angel Firpo, who won that title in his time.
Major exponents of Cuban music left their imprint at the hotel, including Dámaso Pérez Prado, known as the "Mambo King", who performed at the Patio Sevillano with the Habana Casino Orchestra. Leave a Comment

This hotel is located just of the Paseo del Prado. It is within easy walking distance of most major sights, like the Capitol, Malecon and Old Havana. The hotel has several restaurants. On the ground floor Giralda - a buffet restaurant - not very good. The restaurant on the top floor: Roofgarden has beautiful views of Havana. Do order a-la-carte, the buffet is just as bad as Giralda's.
This hotel is the only one in central Havana with a swimmingpool. Leave a Comment
