Casa Marylin Matanzas: All those cockerels

This place is around a 10 min walk from the bus station in Matanzas and around a mile from the centre of Matanzas.

Marilyn arranged a taxi pick up for me from Varadero airport and this went smoothly.

The location is in a residential area with little of immediate interest. Access is via a chained up gate out front and then up a set of steps up the side of the house to the 2 guest rooms. Dinner was offered and I accepted I have to say that with the general standard of food across Cuba being unimpressive, the dinner I had here was among the best in 2 weeks in Cuba, also a huge portion.

The room was basic but the bed was comfy. The biggest issues were being eaten by mosquitos (don't believe that the mosuitos have been fumigated out of Cuba, I had a dozen bites on me by the morning) and the noise from outside. Neighbours were noisy in the street impacting any chance of an early sleep. The biggest issue with noise though was the cockerels. There seemed like a whole portfolio of them and they started from around 4 am. This isn't something that can be blamed on Marilyn's, I could have stayed in any house around there and the noise would have been exactly the same.

I eventually got a hot water shower but it took some help from the hosts. It seemed to require a phd in goodness knows what to eventually the hot water to come out of there but it did work.
