Smoke Free would be better

We loved the hotel, the (bland, healthy) meals and most of all the staff and Cubans who worked here. However, the French speaking Quebecers who are only 9% of Canada's population create 90% of the smoke, mal educatione, bad attitude, bad manners, filthy habits. The hotel would be improved 70% by keeping out smokers and improve 90% by keeping out Quebecers.

Unique Quality: There is a great pool which was okay when the wind blew too strongly on the beach. The beach is soft, sandy and shallow with minimal undertow on yellow (amarillo) and green (verde) flag days. You can walk for miles in either direction, and beaches are not crowded. Musica at the hotel was constant and overly loud at my bed time (10:00 p.m.). Next time, I will request a room overlooking the main street which becomes quiet after dark.

Food is fresh and Cuban bland. If you want (UMAS food) just swim 90 miles north to Florida. Otherwise; when in Cuba, eat Cuban food. Two weeks of buffet pig-out only resulted in 2 lbs gain because food is not fattening.

Strengths: The Cuban people; delightful.
