Los jasmines is stuated a good distance outside Vinales but be put off. We booked ahead from Havana & chose it because it was the only place we could get into. Having arrived exhausted, hot & tired from Havana, I can only descibe this place as heaven on earth! The main hotel is a beautiful old colonial style building. You can either stay in there or in the 'cabanas' outside. The cabana's face the most amazing view I've ever seen looking down into the Vinales valley over the farmers fields, tobacco houses & palm trees. Although a little musty smelling(!) - nothing beats waking up there. The food is nothing to write home about but if you've got this far, you've no doubt become accustomed the the Cuban cuisine! The hotel runs a range of activities, we did the mountain trek which was a brilliant exprience & you learn loads about local life there. The lady who runs the tourist desk there was great & helped us loads with our onward journey.
Pool is a large, no frills but at least clean affair!
A perfect, relaxed Casa Particular with 2 bedrooms. Nene's husband has a tabaco plantation and they will love to show and teach you all about how cigars are made in Cuba.
Also Nene can arrange horseback riding for you.
It’s a very friendly family… and the price is one of the cheapest options you’ll find in Viñales.
If you don’t have anything booked in advance, don’t worry… every time a bus arrives, there are at least 15 or 20 casa owners offering their house. I paid only 10 CUC here, that’s why I recommend it… besides that, the family was cool… the room was alright, it had private restroom with hot water… pretty much the same all the other rooms have.
Just one very important advice… all the casas all over Cuba will try to convince you to eat at the house, some times it may be a good choice… but if they don’t tell you the price in advice, you’ll end up paying 8 CUC for a meal they bought in the market for 50 cents. The same with the beer the offer you at dinner… while you buy the same beer at any bar for 1 CUC, they may charge you 3 CUC. That’s a very usual way to get ripped off (it happened to me, ***ers!).
I hardly recommend this official house.
Esther is a realy good coocker and Domingo makes good mojitos.
Very nice family, all of them are working in different hotels around the area, so they know what do you want.
If they don´t have space in their 2 bed room, they would help you find another house.
Remember that this is a cuban house, so no luxes will be available, but the family is really nice and that is very important. Trust me.
Tell them about me, maybe Domingo will invite you to a mojito.
We stayed at Villa Mercy at N. 129 Calle Rafael Trejo (the one going parallel to the main street on the right). Mercy is part of a family who in total have 8 houses in Vinales (cousins, aunts, etc.) so you won't have any trouble finding a place with these people. There are actually three houses next door to each other with Villa Mercy in the middle (the picture is actually of Villa Loska, we were staying in the two of them). This is very convenient when you travel in family or group. The owners (Osvaldo and Mercy) are incredibly nice people. They helped us tremendously when one of our kids had to go to the local hospital for some stich points... They also cook very well and the rooms are spotless. It's also right in the center of town and it is so nice to just stay in their rocking chair and watch the local activity.
Hotel Los Jasmines is located in the Valle de Vinales, in the charming town of Vinales. Just an easy fifteen miles from Pinar del Rio, this serene, colonial-style pink mansion, covered with stained glass windows, precious wood and lovely gardens offers some of the most beautiful views of the Vinales Valley (and is the best hotel in the area). Interestingly, Castro suggested the 4-star resort as an ideal honeymoon retreat. Los Jasmines features sixty-two air conditioned rooms (all with balconies to take in the great views of the valley), and an additional sixteen cottages. There is also a fine restaurant, two bars, a disco, a large swimming pool, banquet room, horseback riding tours, medical services, shops, and a money exchange.
We stayed at the Hotel for two nights. The view of the Mogotes surrounded us and it was good to be looking at the mogotes disappearing into the darkness as we had dinner.
The hotel is built with a wonderful view of the mogotes. the rooms are well ventilated and also have air conditioning. The pool is large and a welcome relief from mid day heat. Multiple restaurants and the breakfast was adequate, if you get there early enough.
it was lovely to have dinner at twilight .
The price of a double room was 50 euros booked through the travel agent and you could get slightly cheaper booking directly.
We were welcomed at then moment we opened the door. Maria was our host and the meals there are superb, so much you can finish and so cheap.
The food and the hospitality.
We spent 5 nights at Villa Sara y Jorge in Vinales. Sara has been running her casa for 10 years and her guest books are full of well deserved praise.
We felt so welcome at this clean and spacious home, tucked down a backstreet in a quiet neighbourhood. It was great to sit on the porch in rocking chairs, sipping a cool lemonade (or mojito) and watch the time pass by. Neighbours greeted us as though we were old friends and we found ourselves invited into houses left and right. Sara and Jorge were wonderful hosts, telling us all about Vinales and the area and everything that was on offer thereabouts. We followed their advise on everything and had an excellent time!
The room was large with two double beds, air-conditioning and fan. It came with a stocked fridge (water, juice, soda and beers), and private bath with a great shower. The restaurants in Vinales are mostly State owned and we ate breakfasts and dinners prepared by Sara. She is a terrific cook and takes great pride in offering up really delicious and enormous meals with traditional flavours and styles of cooking. She does equally well with vegetarian meals. I came home with several recipes for soups, sauces and deserts.
Jorge is a great talker and we found them both excellent sources of information not just for the area, but for every facet of life in Cuba. We left wishing we could stay longer. Strongly, strongly recommend a stay here!
Wonderful, well informed hosts, comfortable beds, great meals! Very close to main street. English spoken!
2 airconditined rooms with private bathrooms, hot and cold showers, welcome juice and cigar, and has family close by with equally nice casa (friends stayed there). Possibly best food i had in cuba, great flat roof top with seating which has beautiful views of mountains, sat there one night watching brilliant lightning storm, smoking cigars and having a beer. Arranged brilliant and reasonable horseriding trip for a a group of us (sounded better than others experiences), got some good cigars, lobster was brilliant at night as was fish. all qute friendly and chatty (although more to girls than guys but not in bad way) but would recommend. keys to rooms and backdoor for at night as well. nice and centrally located as well.
Hi there travellers, for those who are looking for advise on casa particulares in Cuba, I was very lucky two good freinds of mine reccommended to stay at Pupi y Norma - a fantastic family/guest house in Vinales, Pinar del Rio. Their hospitaliy was excellent I really felt at home, beside, the food that Pupi was preparing every night!!!! What a delicacy! I have collected some stuff and put their 'casa particular' on the map, knowing how dfficult it is for them to connect with the world www.villapupi.com please feel free to contact me for any advise
excellence of service
tasty and plenty home made Creole food
lot of light in the house
nice bungalows stretched in a grove, birds everywhere... relax on your balcony and enjoy the sound of nature.
the hotel has a nice small swimmingpool.
The Casa of Grisel is located in the very relaxed Valle de Silencio, 5 minutes walking outside of the center of Vinales. Sitting in a rocking chair in front of the casa chickens and little piggies will play and pass you by. Grisel has 2 rooms, is a terrific cook and tranquil person.
Grisels' brother has a farm in the beautiful nature suroundings of Vinales, he love to show you around. Many people did and had a great time with this family playing domino and riding families horse!
Los Jazmines is a typical Horizontes hotel. The services and the food are of medium quality, but the location makes up for everything, it's probably one of the best located hotels in the world.
The hotel overlooks the astoundingly beautiful Vinales valley. The main building is noisy and quite old, but there is a new building with better rooms and balconies (also nice looking bungalows). We spent every evening sitting on our balcony drinking Cuba Libre and admiring the ever changing view. Also there is a pool with a great view and a good shop. The food is the usual, nothing special.
The price is not cheap in Vinales, but much lower than in Havana, so I felt it was a good value.
Hotel La Ermita is ideal for naturists, offering a range of different ecotours of great interest. Among them are the wonders of Vi?ales, a hike of the Sierra del Infierno (Hell Mountains) to see the local flora and fauna, including its birds and a tree dating back to the Jurassic Period (Microsyca calocoma), and visit the Moncada farmers? community; a Visit to Los Acuaticos, a community of the mountains and the Secrets of the Underground World, a speleological tour of the Cavern of Santo Tomas. These tours are excellent for trekkers and hikers, for horseback riding and visiting farmers? communities to become familiar with their customs and way of life.
