Beau Rive is an amazing bed and breakfast style hotel. The proprietor, Mark Steele, took years to build this small paradise. It's an amazing, civilized escape in this overall wild island. The rooms were lovely and breezy and all of the rooms have ocean views. Every guest room has an ocean view and includes the following: One queen-size bed, veranda, private shower room, tea and coffee making facilities, and a ceiling fan.
Bed and breakfast Current rates are as follows: Single $123 USD-Double $160-Triple $195 with a two night stay minimum. Includes taxes and service charges. For three nights or less full payment due upon booking. For stays of four nights or more a 50% deposit is required. A 30-day cancellation is needed for refunds minus a 5% credit card transaction fee. Otherwise, there are no refunds here irregardless of the reason! The food was amazing. Mark uses many of his own recipes invented by using local produce. Breakfast is complimentary continental style, and the dinner menu changes daily for $30 USD pp. The only meat served here is chicken or fish, and most of the menu is vegetarian. There is even a piano and a lovely pool. I'll definitely stay with at the Beau Rive again. I recommend this amazing place to everyone. One tip, do NOT leave the light on in the room when you leave. Dominica is loaded with strange and interesting bugs... | | | | Fort Young Hotel: Restored Hotel dating from the 1770's | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
This hotel is stunning. The rooms are very spacious, clean, well equipped and beautifully furnished, as is the rest of the hotel. Our room had a balcony over the sea, we woke up to the sound of the waves lapping below. The Fort Young Hotel has 73 guestrooms and suites, all of which have a balcony or patio with ocean views. Rooms are outfitted with redwood furnishings and offer cable/satellite TV, direct-dial phones, and air conditioning. Deluxe Oceanfront rooms have hair dryers, iron/ironing boards, in-room safes, bathtubs, and coffeemakers.
Ranked #2 in all of Dominica. The views over the Caribbean sea with Scott's Head to the left are incredible. The food is fresh and delicious and the staff can't do enough to help. Lovely memories, I'd go back again and again. Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: US$80-120 » Currency ConverterComparison: most expensiveAddress: Victoria Street, P.O. | | | | Cherry Lodge Guest House,... | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
Cherry Lodge Guest House, Roseau Unbeatable price for low maintenance individuals: $E.C. 33-76 Eastern Caribbean dollars = $12-28 U.S. dollars per night!!!
For price, originality, true West Indian service, and low cost I STRONGLY recommend the Cherry Lodge Guest House. Everyone in the area knows this very antique guest house and a taxi from the Melville Airport can get you there in about 1 hour 30 minutes. This is a quaint very old building, and this former 'mansion' has been in the Tavanere family for more than 100 years. There is no air conditioning or seperate bathrooms to each individual room. You can request a room with bathroom, however. Breakfast will be served every morning except Sunday at no later than 9 A.M. The wonderful and intriguing, Veron, will visit your room to clean daily. She is quite a character. When calling to book your room, you can ask for Zinnia Tavenere the proprietor. | | | | We stayed in three different... | Tip Rating: | | | | |
We stayed in three different guesthouses and, therefore, were able to experience a broad range of service. Our absolute favorite place was Roxy's Mountain Lodge in Laudat at the foot of the Morne Trois Pitons Park and a number of hikes (including the Boiling Lake). Owner, Marie Louise was building on to the main building so we expect an even bigger and better Roxy's soon. The set-up promotes community living--rooms have their own baths, but there's a common space with TV and a common kitchen. Rooms are extremely comfortable (the bed was the firmest bed I've slept on in my travels--ever!), but our view was what won us over. We were lucky to come during low season and were given the best room in the house for the same rate as the least expensive ones(which weren't bad at all--we took a peek). Upon opening the veranda doors of our room, we had a glorious view of the mountains. Roxy's will serve you meals with notice (the food was very good) and will arrange tours with extremely knowledgeable guides. The other two guesthouses were no competition at all and the entire time that we stayed at the other places, we wondered why we had ever left Roxy's. Before picking a place to stay, please check my tip on tourist traps! Rates were very very affordable--we paid $40 US for a basic double and the great room we stayed in actually cost $75 per night.
As I already mentioned, the view was fabulous. This picture shows the view from the terrace after some rains that preceded Hurricane Debby. Also, everyone at the Lodge was extremely nice and accomodating. Roxy's also has a bar so you can enjoy a Kubuli with some other weary travellers.
