Serenity Lodges Dominica: Beautiful View Guesthouse

by CarinaGrenada

It was fantastic. Its a self-contain room, so i can manage my budget which is good. The customer service is great, they really make you feel at home. The river is really close by, just a matter of walking and then you get to see the villagers pull up in the local shops playing dominino or enjoying themselves. On the other side is the carib territory and there is a beach close by (not so good to bath though is a bit rough). The guesthouse itself, is sorrounded by nature, and you hear the birds sign in the morning and evening. Really relaxing. They also help you find the best deals so you can really budget yourself properly. The breakfast, is upon request. They will let you know that. I believe they wanted to also grow antherium, so you may be fortunate to see it when you stay with them next time.

All in all, i would recommed it to anyone wanting to go dominica, and want to watch their budget. the room is clean and nice too.

The view is wonderful, you are in amazement. When rain is coming you see it ridding the ridge like horse. Its located privatly on a hill. Hence the view. Its really budget friendly, and the service is exceptional. Really nice place to stay. The river is really close so you can go take a bath. They offer laundry services if you want, and if you dont feel like doing your own breakfast, they do offer breakfast upon request.

Cocoa Cottages: Best B&B around Roseau

by clenor

Just back from splendid Dominica, we're sincerely eager to pass on OUR address, which SHOULD be listed by VirtualTourist : Cocoa Cottages

15 min above Roseau on the road to Trafalgar Falls, it is just THE PERFECT PLACE to choose to conveniently explore the many riches (nature and sea) around, without having to rent a car (frequent public mini-buses except on week ends, and hitch-hike works very well !)

Beautiful settings and views, intelligent local architecture, confortable room, a very efficient and friendly owner, Iris, who will be happy to advise you on your program and share with you her delicious dinners, if you wish. Her home-made jams at breakfast are a treat and her chocolate (elaborated from the production of her own trees !) is an absolute delight

Be sure to ask for Geoffrey as we did, her excellent, friendly and very knowledgeable chauffeur/trekking expert, and don't hesitate to call on Richard who operates on the premices a very professional canyoning operation, for both first timers and experts : Extreme Dominica.

Just in case, the website for direct bookings (as we did, browsing the Web from France) is
We'll definitely be back !

Altogether a very special place : convenient location, great views, excellent management, comfortable rooms, delicious food

Caribbean Sea View Holiday Apartments: Nice Apartments

by travelingfrog

We had a wonderful time at the Caribbean Sea View Holiday Apartments. The manager - Julia - was very helpful. The apartments are located in Mero very close to Connie's Beach - nice beach with black sand and a nice restaurant (see my Connie's Beach Bar posting).
The place is lovely, everything is clean and well maintained.
I would highly recommend it. Good location to explore the island.

Great views from balcony - especially at sunset.

Fort Young Hotel: Restored Hotel dating from the 1770's

by BROOKS

This hotel is stunning. The rooms are very spacious, clean, well equipped and beautifully furnished, as is the rest of the hotel. Our room had a balcony over the sea, we woke up to the sound of the waves lapping below.
The Fort Young Hotel has 73 guestrooms and suites, all of which have a balcony or patio with ocean views. Rooms are outfitted with redwood furnishings and offer cable/satellite TV, direct-dial phones, and air conditioning. Deluxe Oceanfront rooms have hair dryers, iron/ironing boards, in-room safes, bathtubs, and coffeemakers.

Ranked #2 in all of Dominica.
The views over the Caribbean sea with Scott's Head to the left are incredible. The food is fresh and delicious and the staff can't do enough to help. Lovely memories, I'd go back again and again.

We stayed here for 1 night. The hotel is in an old fort and has a lot of facilities ( waterfront restaurant, café, pool, bar and shops).
Our room had a good standard.
On Fridays there is a live band playing and in the courtyard there is a good value barbecue ( 16 EC pP), don’t miss the Happy Hour ( 18.00- 19.00 pm) at the bar for beers and punches. The rum-punch is excellent!
It is not far from the market. Go there an Saturday mornings and have a look at all the fruits and flowers. But it is very crowded!

Hibiscus Valley Inn: Hibiscus Valley Inn

by mytapsy

We stayed 3 nights in the Hibiscus Valley Inn and enjoyed it!

The price was good and the location is very pleasant, the facilities are basic and spartan.
There is also a mosquito net, but you don’t need it! No mosquito there, during our stay.
And the very best is the hammock for relaxing among the tropical garden.

The staff was very friendly and outgoing, and we learned a lot about the Dominican way of life!

The river across the road is great for a refreshing swim (every morning and evening.

Tamarind Tree Hotel: Tamarind tree

by mytapsy

Stayed there for 3 nights in a standard room.
Hotel on a cliff ( beautifull seaview from the balcony), easy to find, located 30 minutes from Roseau off the mainroad to Portsmouth.
Comfortable room, big bed, fridge and fan.
Recommend a stay.
Continental breakfast ( fresh German- style bread and try the Lime- Pepper- Jelly) in an open restaurant with seaview.
Dinner was good ( we had fish) but we missed the "local colour"
The restaurant is closed Tuesday.
Also german speaking staff.

Pool or a 5 minutes walk to the beach. Small beach, but ok for a swim. Black sand.

Fort Young Hotel: Sleep in a Bit of History

by TexasDave

The original part of this hotel was built as a fort in 1770. There are many different levels of accomodation and prices to match. We were here on a cruise so didn't stay here but I didhave a look around and it seemed very nice. For what it's worth, the cast of "Pirates of the Caribbean-Dead Man's Chest" stayed here while filming the movie.

Fort Young: Nicest in Rosseau

by wakejunkie

This is the most modern of the hotels on the island. It has been recently renovated, so you can pick from old rooms or new ones. I stayed in one of the old rooms and it was great for island standards. We had a private balcony overlooking the pool, hot tub and sea. As the name suggests, this used to be an old British fort from back around the time the Brits were fighting Napoleon. They have two restaurants, one of which is a step back in the direction of civilization where imported steaks are served as well as fresh fish and creole dishes. I recommend this place especially if you want to stay in the city. The Garrison Hotel is right across the street with comprible prices but I haven't seen the rooms. It looks more like your traditional motel while Fort Young is like a litle community of bungalows.
