  • This was a decent hotel which offers a good value and a good location. The area around it is full of police and is very safe. The hotel is full of French tourists also. The restaurant is decent, if a bit pricey when compared to options nearby. There was no alarm clock, but the staff did call to wake me up as requested, just 20 min later than the time I asked for. Also there is no plug in the bathroom, and I had to buy an extension cord to use a hair dryer. There is no internet in the room, but there is a computer by the front desk that you can use. There is also an internet cafe several blocks south off of Juan Garcia street. Hope this helps.

    Good value, location.

  • My dear friend Erik said he got a glimpse of this huge hotel 30 years ago. Trujillo ordered its construction in a hilltop overlooking the ocean. Today there are several buildings and houses around and traffic in Mexico avenue is a nightmare! The facilities are well kept and clean. The staff is extremely nice. And the best part..THE POOL! and of course...the bar conveniently located a few steps away.

    They have gym, sauna, jacuzzi, tennis courts and a nice pool were you could actually get a workout.

  • I loved this hotel. My favorite thing to do every morning was to go down stairs to the atrium and enjoy breakfast. To call it a "continental breakfast" would be a shame. This breakfast included fresh tropical fruits and juices, sweet breads, dates, nuts, fresh scrambled eggs, a potatoe, onion, and carrot dish, and the best prosciutto you can imagine. The staff was so attentive. They were genuinely concerned about the satisfaction of my stay.

    This place is beautiful. It is a historic site. I believe it was a monastery before. I could be wrong.

    Lovely small hotel with Spanish style courtyard in the old colonial district. The entrance and exterior of the hotel is somewhat inconspicuous, we stumbled upon this one by accident after arriving in town and trying to find a place to stay.

    Details can be found on their web site, http://www.sofitel.com though it is sometimes hard to uncover the secrets of Hotel Frances, even though their official web site!! If you can't find by searching by hotel name or city name, then try typing in the Hotel Code - 2137.
