After 2 months traveling and studying abroad in the DR, this was a true grand finale. It's location is in the Zona Colonial historical district and felt very safe. Tucked away behind grand wooden doors, this cozy inn has a central pool overhung with shady trees and a roof deck that overlooks the city. Not too noisy, this was a comfortable escape from the heat and bustle of historic Santo Domingo. We stayed on the ground floor in a large attractive room with a/c called the Rey Ferdinand room. Clean bathrooms, if aging, but it adds to the historic whimsy of this establishment. The open sitting area and small coffee bar invite one to wile away the afternoon with a good book. Some other travelers were less happy with their tight second floor quarters, so ask for the largest room or get a tour before deciding. We made reservations, which is probably the only guarantee this gem of a hotel is available. It's Old World charm is worth the money. The spanish owner was very helpful with our transfer to the airport. Definitely a historical and wonderful place to stay in this colonial city.
Unique Quality: Quite ambiance. Historic. Has a pool for those sweltering Santo Domingo afternoons. Views of the city from the rooftop deck. A light and tasty breakfast is included. WiFi
Directions: In the Zona Colonial near the Iglesia Regina
