Hotel Villas Doradas, Playa Dorada
This hotel is excellent! It has 2 swimming pools, 3 bars, four restaurants(the main buffet restuarant and 3 speciality ones;chinese, seafood and beach club grill),nightly entertainment and stage area, 3 shops, and a whole variety of activites and sports. As it is an all inclusive hotel most of the activites available are at no extra cost(for example, one session horse riding, scuba diving, non motorized water sports..) The hotel is set in well looked after gardens full of flowers and trees. It is set by the beach and a few minutes walk through the grounds takes you there. On the way you go over a small bridge on a lake surrounded by a mangrove swamp-it is really very pretty. The rooms are very spacious-we had a ground floor room with a queen size bed, air conditioning, and satellite TV.The maid service was daily. The food in the main buffet restaurant was really good and well varied each night and the staff were friendly and efficient. This was a fantastic hotel and I would certainly stay there again. The 'Club' in the name comes from the property's ambiance of belonging. The two sociable bars and restaurants overlook the panorama of the Bay and the beach in front where fish and lobsters are brought in daily by spear-fishermen. The Club has 14 large deluxe rooms, elegantly decorated, each with two double beds, ceiling fans, air conditioning and 8 rooms have a balcony and a spectacular ocean view. They have facilities and organize all that is needed for small conferences and other business and social group activities and meeting accommodating 30-40 people. They offer the right mixture of privacy and seclusion and access to social relaxation in a beautiful setting. As We were there on a package deal, I had no choice of hotels, I just had to book one at home, and that is where they put me. It was a nice one, bout 20 minutes walk from the main beach, which was nice because we always had to walk through town. They had a restaurant, don't know how the food is, never ate there, a swimming pool, which is nice on the evenings, and a TV in the room, which for us was handy cause we kinda had a little bit rain the first week
They turn of the heater for warm water when the rooms are not occupied, so when you get there you have to turn it on yourself. We didn't know this, and we were too lazy to ask, so for 1 and half weeks we had showers with cold water. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Costa Real, Sosua

This is your typical all-inclusive, package holiday, beach hotel fully equipped with plastic cups at the bar and french fries on the buffet. Please all those hardened travellers who turn their noses up at the slightest whiff of AC - give me a break on this one! All inclusve holidays are the cheapest way to get to the Dominican Republic from England! The staff are friendly and unobtrusive, there is always food available, the private beach is clean and white and the rooms are large and clean. What more could you ask for?? Well, considering this was a budget type of trip, we got more than we expected! It is a huge resort with many rooms of various qualities. At first we got a twin bed room. The room was good, the bathroom great. The view was minor as was the location. It had 3 small windows viewing the pool with a lot of noise until 11pm. But that wasn't the worst! It seemed to be part of a family room: a small door connected our room with the next door room. That door hid all but noise! Our neighbors slept through the day, came alive at night and had their TV set on for 24 hours a day! We could hear their conversation word by word! After complaining we were upgraded to a superior room on the third floor! PERFECT!
This is one of the first resorts in the Dom. Rep. So it is dated. But the location is THE BEST!!!!!! It has TWO beaches: the West one is very clean, great swimming water, much activities, but HOT HOT HOT! No wind! The East one is very clean as well, more quiet, less activities, more rocks and corals. swimming is not that good. But a nice cool wind the entire day! Perfect for getting a teint! Make sure you have enough sun protection lotions with you and use them! The place has a nice pool with pool bar (underwater seats!), 3 restaurants, a disco and a casino. The food was great!!! Personel was great!! Entertainment as enjoyable! But, the views over the ocean at sunset are breathtaking! It was pretty great. At first they tried to give us a lower grade room than what we paid for. We had to settle for staying in a smaller room our first night but the following six nights we got a gorgeous king size room with a patio that had a jacuzzi. It was flippin' awesome! Sometimes the food at resorts is subpar, but it was pretty great at Majestic Colonial. They have five restaurants: Japanese, Mexican, French, seafood and steakhouse. The French and steakhouse restaurants were surprisingly delicious. Their pool is incredible. It kind of wraps from the front of the resort to the beach entrance. I highly suggest going with an all-inclusive package if you're going to this resort! We booked this resort through CheapCaribbean.com. I was a little weary about booking through this site, but it turned out great! I was very satisfied. Our stay in the Tropical Princess, which was known as Hodelpa Tropical Club, when I was there, was awesome! The trip was soo good that I would go back to the same resort all over again! The resort is very big and it shares the land with another resort called Caribe Club Princess, which is owned by the same people. The food was really good, there was always a good variety of food, even for the picky people, like my sister. The rooms were always VERY CLEAN, and the maids were soo nice. We never had a problem finding chairs on the beach. At night the resort would have a show of some type for everyone and they were always good, but one of not appropraite for younger children, but overall the rest of the shows were good for all ages. Overall I give this resort 2 thumbs up, or 5 STARS!! Leave a Comment Theme: OtherComparison: about averageDirections: Punta Cana -- on Bavaro Beach
