a)SOFITEL IN THE CONDE b)LOCAL HOTELS IN bAVARO NEXT TO THE BUS TERMINAL. VERY COMFORTABLE AND NOT VERY EXPENSIVE. c)AT THE FOOT OF THE LOS hAITISES IN BAYAGUANA THERE ARE LOCAL INS THAT COST LESS THAN $10.. PER NITE. VERY COMFORTABLE. I STAY THERE ALL THE TIME. $80 IN SANTO DOMINGO. tHERE ARE HOTELS FOR LESS, BUT I CHOOSE TO HAVE HOT AMD COLD WATER AND LIGHT, ALL THE TIME IN BOCA CHICA, THERE ARE LOTS OF HOSTELS, VERY CHEAP AND VERY GOOD, BUT IT IS THE SEX CAPITAL, SO WATCH OUT FOR PROPOSITIONS.
BASIC SLEEP ARRANGEMENTS.. CLEAN NITE'S REST. THE LUXURY HOTELS ARE IN SANTO dOMINGO AND THE RESORT AREAS.. MOST HOTELS ARE ALL-INCLUSIVE. Theme: InnComparison: less expensive than averageOther Contact: www.sofitel.com

We stayed for one full week in a huge, very huge resort, called Bavaro Beach in Punta Cana....this is a 5 star hotel with absolutely everything, including a very very big swimming-pool and all sports available (including golf) + a casino. That was great but if you want to go away from the hotel, the closest 'real' village called Higuey...it's hard. When we toured the island we found motels/hotels all around the country..The hotel Las Terrenas in Samana Peninsula was really great, with hammocks and isolated beach. Theme: Motel

by melissamn1 Again..We stayed at Play Naco Resort in Peurto Plata. It was a great Resort. The people were very friendly! The only thing I didn't like was the people on the beach always trying to sell us stuff. I just ignored them because I wouldn't want to be anywhere else at that time and place.
I am not sure about the price because we stayed with our friends who had a time share but, I do believe it was a reasonable price. There were alot of families! The Resort had one huge pool with a bar in it along with a bar along side the pool. I do believe they should of had more bars considering the amount of people there. They also had a beach side bar which was were we hung out the most. They have tennis courts..golf. The shopping mall is in walking distance which was a huge plus. We didn't leave our time share hardly at all..only to go on the jeep ride and shopping. Everything was there. The resort has great views of the beach..depending where your room is of course. During lunch time the buffet opened up which was a great buffet. The bar at the beach always had something grilling! Mmmm! It was gooood! I would for sure go back! all inclusive hotel: you get there, you egister and they put you a tag on and then the fun begins: you are a paid guest and you go straight to the bar or dinning rooms and you are well served. Excellent grounds, boating, surfing, swimming pools, jet sky, local tours, etc. Theme: HotelComparison: about averageAddress: Punta Cana, R. D.

In Santo Domingo, you can find quality, five star lodging at reasonable rates, especially if you use an online discount booking company like groovytravel.net. The first time we went stayed in a hotel there, we used the Hotel Continental. This is an inexpensive option where the rooms are clean and air-conditioned, but offers little more than this. The next time we stayed at the Intercontinental along the waterfront. This was a great five-star hotel! There are several restaurants, a pool that is appropriate for all age groups, mini-bars, casino and bar, and just about every room has a view of the ocean (even our discounted one!). The rooms also come with a free breakfast buffet. Other people I know also like the Jaragua, which is a five-star hotel owned by the Mariott chain. Rooms at the Continental Hotel range from about $60 to $105. The Intercontinental rage from $90-$500. At the Jaragua Hotel and Casino the prices range from about $85-$500. by Lisabeth The only resort I have stayed at in the Dominican Republic was the Catalonia Bavaro, and I was pleased with the accomodations. 842.00 dollars American for 7 nights, all inclusive
Very nicely decorated, all rooms are Jr Suites, including jacuzzi tub, mini bar stocked daily with bottled water, soda pop, and Presidente beer. The Pool is great with a swim-up bar, and an island in the middle with a jacuzzi. The beach is right in front of the pool area, and loaded with chaise lounges and palm trees. There is some shopping for sundries, and souvenirs in the resort. The price was reasonable. There is an exercise facility, although there were not many visitors taking advantage of it. The staff and other guests were friendly. There are 5 restaurants which are all inclusive, and nightly shows. There is a discoteque that caters to the late night crowd. Picture is of Villa 2 which is very close to the beach and the pool. Theme: HotelAddress: Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
