If you are vegatrian and if you are not . Best place is Blue Moon at Los Brazos A one night stay is $50.00 US which includes breakfast and often lunch. Suppers are very cheap and surprisingly diffrent, but so good (especialy they know I'm a vegetarian, so they go out of there way to prepare my food seperate from the meat dishes.
If you like the simple life, slow pace etc. this is the place to be. Very good price, simple meals, which I like, And the hut you stay in is so diffrent, clean, and the important basics. Staff are locals that live down the hill and are so sweat. Hacienda Tropical, Cofresi Bay, Dominican Republic (North)
We paid an all-inclusive price of £750 for 2 weeks including flights, accommodation, and all meals, which was very economical. The hotel is stunning with gorgeous pools surrounded by palms, and the beach is very close - just a few minutes' walk. Theme: HotelAddress: Cofresi Bay, Northern Dominican Republic

Las Terrenas/Samana This is better answered with a question, as in how budget minded are you? Anything is possible here and I looked at a numbeer of hotels houses and residence hotels. All were comfortable and I 'felt' meet American standards. Theme: Hotel

Our resort in Punta Cana was beautiful. Everything was very clean and the grounds were spectacular. We stayed at the Iberostar Dominicana which was a hot spot as we saw many people with bands on their wrists from neighboring hotels.
The resort offered many things to do. There is a workout facility, a couple pools (including a child's pool), dance lessons, beach volleyball, diving demos and much more. Theme: Hotel

The Fun Royale, also known as Interclubs Fun Royale and Fun Tropicale. If you live in Canada it is best to book a package for air and hotel.
It's all inclusive, all the food you want, all the alcohol you want. Three pools, nightclub, 2 restaurants, plus a buffet restaurant and a pizza bar. Activities all day long, aqua aerobics, water volleyball, all sorts of things too many to mention. Theme: HotelDirections: It is located in the Playa Dorada complex in the city of Puerto Plata.

When we were there, we stayed at the Melia Tropical and the property was huge, green and lush. The landscaping was gorgeous, and made the walks from the main building to the beach relaxing and picturesque as though walking through a botanical garden. (a tram was also available for those who would rather not walk the paths) Theme: Hotel

Coconut Palms Resort between Sosua and Cabarete $75/nite I think but we did timeshare so I don't know for sure. Definitely worth checking out.
Small nicely appointed apartment type rooms. No AC but built to handle breezes on the hill so a week in early April did not call for AC. Nice private beach (they have a shuttle or you can walk the 10 minute walk. Excellent poolside bar (say hi to Nicholas from Roy/Joe with the braid from AZ who spoke a little spanish and liked lime in his beer). Just an absolute excellent choice for a quite peaceful vacation spot Theme: HotelComparison: about averageDirections: on a hill right past Sea Horse resort right off main highway from Sosua to Cabarete
