What clothing?

by kevfitz

Off to the Palladium Bavaro Grand on the 12th August. Is there any need to take formal clothes for any of the restaurants or are shorts and t-shirts okay?

Re: What clothing?

by YVRDave

There is a big jump from shorts and a t-shirt to formal.
Bring slacks and a nice shirt for dinners.
The phrase is resort casual.

Honestly I think you are good to go with taking a pair of slacks or nice clothes ...and mostly tshirt and shorts...its a vacation..most of the things you will do will require the bathing suit dress code lol...

I dont know much about punta cana but here is a site with some basic info about the province in case you'd like to know..

I can tell you right now that you r in for a hot time, I just got back and it's very hot so shorts and casual clothing are the way to go. there is no need for formal attire here but if you r going to the casino casual slacks r just fine . If you check out captain cook "seafood" you can were ur bathing suits. By the way I took an areial tour to samana and it was great! i also went to Saona Isle which was a great adventure . Pristine clear blue waters the only way to get there is by speed boat great! the hotels will sell you the tours but if you do a little shopping you can get at least 20% cheaper . my friend turned me on to eco-tourism and I'm glad he did . the guys spoke perfect english and new everything about the country . they were very amiable polite and honest ! if you like take a look at their facebook page fredmuchoviaje

GRAND PARADISE BAVARO PUNTA CANA AND ISLA SAONA

by jakeof

"An all inclusive hotel"

Have visited three times . We go to this resort mostly for the Beach.
Food reasonable, good bacon for breakfast. Not a lot to do at this resort but taxi boats readily available on beach.

"Trip to saona"

This trip is a must, book with local tour company and have a wonderful day out for less than £40 per person. Our trip started at 0700hours and included coach to Bayahibe catamaran to Saona being plied with copious amounts of rum on voyage, breath taking scenery, lunch on Saona, several hours on island, speedboat trip back to Bayahibe, with a stop about a mile from shore to walk in the Caribbean sea which has starfish and is only waist deep more rum and then back to Bayahibe . met by Coach driver and back to hotel arrivng about 2000hours a truly wonderful day out

"Robin Hood restaurant"

Catch taxi boat on beach for $50 per person return, included in the $50 is a three course meal at the Robin Hood Restaurant with wine also inclusive. If you like seafood this is a good place to go Portions huge cooked to perfection

"Enjoy the hotel and enjoy outside the hotel"

This is one of the most exciting destination in the caribbean, Republica Dominicana is parto of the island of Española, shared with Haiti.
THe territory is full of magnifiquent locations and I could visit some places of the west as Punta Canta, Higuey and la Otra Banda, as well as driving as much as I could.
I visited the capital, Santo Domingo, going in local buses, the cheapest way, due to high tourist standard prices, that do not help normal tourist to get, and most of the excursions have to pick tourist from many hotels, so you can waste lot of time.
Dominican Republic cannot be compared with other caribbean island, has a proud identity rather than Cuba Jamaica or Puerto Rico and is the home of Merengue and Bachata.

"I enjoy talking"

I can have the cahge to talk about what I wanna learn with people of many countries, to see the opinion of theit countries. I was glad to meet tourist from Curaçao, Ecuador, Miami, USA, Macedonia or Germany.....

"And meet the locals"

they are fantastic, but in my hotel there are intructed to inform the tourist very strict, saiyng that outside the hotel all the places are dangerous, to enhance tourist to use hotel services.
After warm contact they will provide good info for shopping.
The spanish spoken here provide nice accent and "frases": HOLA MI AMOLL (hello darling)", "YA TU SABES (you know)", "¿COMO TU ESTAS? (how are you?"

Bavaro

by piravlos01

"Bavaro Princess"

Bavaro is a place next to Punta Cana (their only difference is in the name). They share the same beach. A beautiful exotic place to visit. You won't regret it though you might feel a bit sorry for the Dominican people when you learn about their salaries and their non existing insurance, which makes them looking for your tip.
We stayed at Bavaro Princess hotel. As all of the area, is huge with almost all comforts (offered all inclusive in the price). It contains suits, no hotel rooms.

"Punta Cana Intl Airport"

The first thing you will see is that on the picture.Punta Cana International (!) Airport. It makes you clearly understand where you came. An exotic place!
You will also feel the humid air but this cannot be captured. -)
