april 2005 by tonydiato The Barceló Resorts are made up of 4 or 5 hotel complexes. It is an all-inclusive fortress. Basically a small city within the walls of the Barceló Hotels. The grounds at this place were amazing. It’s a very clean complex and the staff is very friendly. You have the Caribe, The Beach, The Palace, Golf, and Casino. Each of these are a 4 or 5 star hotel. When you enter your hotel, you have a band put on your wrist for your entire stay. You can go anywhere and eat at the 8 restaurants and buffets for free (unless you are in a 4 star going to a 5 star restaurant they will allow you to eat the buffet, but not order from the menu). The Food is superb!!! The dining restaurants feature a steak house, Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Sea Food, and French cuisines. All drinks are included (can you say party hard?) Though the drinks use Dominicans Domestic bottles, it’s still good. And they serve bottled water everyware. You have a mini bar in your room and its FREE! Though all the help spoke Spanish it was hard to communicate, but we still managed. We met people from all over the world. Within this Barceló city, there is a small shopping plazas and a spa. We did the spa almost every day. Full body massage $20.00, pedicure $20.00. Very good prices for that. If you want to go to the flea market take the free shuttle that takes you all over the complex and exit at the PALACE hotel. Head towards the beach, and make a left. There you will see all the locals under a hut being EXTREAMLY aggressive trying to barter with you. We picked up a few things. We stayed at the Caribe hotel. This is a 4 star hotel, sort of laid back. The Beach hotel, which is next door, was the happening Hotel. Next time I will stay there. The pool isn’t as nice, but you can use any of the pools on the complex. The Casino hotel is not on Beach front property. We talked to people that have been to Punta Cana before and said this is the best resort on the Island.
The grounds are amazing. The food is great. A few Suggestions on what you MUST bring: • Bring a large mug with a lid (like one of those coffee mugs from a gas station). Bring it to the bar, and they will fill it up with your favorite drink. Its better than they small cups they give you. • Bug spray for the mosquitoes • A wash clothe. Now this is odd. Maid service replaces all towels and cleans your room, but then do not replace your wash clothe….HELLO what’s up with that. We had to use are hands in the shower---NOT FUN. • Single bills just incase you want to tip people. If you are going to go on any excursion let me suggest some: • Swim with the sharks at Marinum and snorkel with fish—Amazing trip. • Horse back riding on the beach. • Swimming with the dolphins, not that good, only 10 minutes with the dolphins. {½ hour with the sharks at Marinum) • Party Boat Theme: HotelComparison: about averageAddress: Playa Bavaro No. 3, , Punta CanaWebsite: www.barcelo.com

Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort by travelgirl3 The resort is huge! There are 5 sections - Beach, Caribe, Golf, Casino and Palace (upgrade $$). You have access to all except the Palace, unless you have paid the upgrade to stay there. There's a little tractor/train travlling around the resort which is great if you're tired, or just want something different. The grounds are lush and beautiful, and each section is different from the others. Most vacationers seemed to be European, so English was the minority, which only enhanced the 'away from it all' feel of the place.
All rooms in the Beach section have an ocean view. The rooms also have little coffee makers, so, being an early riser, I'd get up before everybody else each morning, take my coffee onto the balcony and read my book while the sun came up through the palm trees. I miss that. Theme: HotelPrice: US$120-180 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Playa Bavaro No. 2, , Punta Cana

Grand Entrance to the Fiesta Hotels Complex by Ching79 We stayed at the Grand Palladium Palace or Fiesta Palace last Nov 18 – Dec 2 (2 weeks). The service in the whole resort was generally very good. The service in the buffets were very well-organized, especially at Las Torres and El Bohio. They ran the restaurants like a well-oiled machine - someone pours your drinks and ensure your glasses are never empty, someone else clears your plate, another changes the table cloth, etc, etc. They have this process mastered to a tee, and it’s quite impressive observing them do this. Kudos to their managers and hard working servers!
Hotel is right on the beach. Pools: Lots of them – very good as well. Good service at the swim-up bars. No complaints. You can bring your own floating device if you want. I am very happy with the Grand Palladium Palace, and would go back there in a heartbeat. I feel that we got our money's worth and way way more (in a good way!). If you’re trying to decide whether to stay at the Palace or Palladium Bavaro, I recommend using the price as the deciding factor. We just treated the whole resort as one when we were there, and were all over the place all the time!

by toontown The Riu hotel chain has 5 adjacent hotels in Punta Cana, each with a slightly different layout. Guests can use the amenities in any of the hotels. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing beach holiday. The pools were small but clean and I loved the swim-up bars in two of the hotels! The hotels are right on the beach and have a large strip of private beach with a plentiful amount of comfortable lounging chairs and lots of palm trees if you want to snooze in the shade. The restaurants are mostly buffet and very good as far as all-inclusives go. They were prefect for breakfasts, snacks, and lunches, although by the time dinner came around I preferred a la carte. However, the variety and quality was very good, even for dinner. The rooms were very nice and kept immaculately clean by the cleaning staff. We had a balcony which included a rack to dry your swim suits. Don't forget to ask the front desk for an adaptor for your appliances. They use the same voltage but different plugs. Good TV, lots of English channels. There are also well-stocked bars and fridges with soft drinks in each room and a big jug of drinking water, all replenished every other day unless you ask for sooner. We hardly used the bar at all since there were so many (all-inclusive) bars on the property to choose from. Unlike all-inclusives in Mexico, the bartenders didn't water down the drinks either and were quite amenable to making the drinks "mui forte" with or without a tip. We tipped our favourite bartenders near the end of the week (and would highly recommend doing so) but got the impression that they are cheerful and helpful to all the guests. There were tons of beach games, dance classes, aquasize, etc. organized by a very hardworking staff, if you are into that. You could win t-shirts and bottles of rum. After entertaining guests all day the same staff would be involved in the evening entertainment on stage. the shows were mostly dance numbers and fairly entertaining, if rather cheesy.
FAMILY-ORIENTED: Although we went without kids, the hotel was very family-oriented. There were lots of extended families and even weddings and family reunions there. The Riu Bambu also had a special kids club, play area and childminding facilities. On Christmas day Santa came down to the beach and handed out gifts to all the children! OCEAN: I loved the ocean water. Being on the Atlantic side of the DR I thought it might have been cooler, but it was actually very warm (warmer than the pool). The wave action was playful but not overwhelming. Near the end of the week the waves picked up enough that you could do some body surfing if you wanted. we brought a big air mattress with us and spent some time lazing around on the ocean. WEATHER: While we were there the temp averaged about 28 C during the day. It was only very rainy one day, with a few clouds here and there on most of the other days. When the sun was out it was HOT, even with the lovely ocean breeze. Since it is a tropical climate the rain comes quickly and fiercely (but it's still warm!) and goes away again just as quickly. I gather that rain is not uncommon since each room comes equipped with an umbrella, but we only used ours once! Theme: Hotel

A photo of our deluxe room by Ching79 We booked a deluxe room, and glad we did, as it was well worth it (especially since we were there for 2 weeks). The room was equipped with a Jacuzzi, shower stall, toilet :), king size bed, makeup mirror (bonus for us girls!), coffee maker, iron/ironing board, huge closet space, ice bucket, cable tv, and mini-fridge that was stocked a few times a week. The safe was electronically controlled, and came free of charge with the room.
Everything in the room was in good working order. The maid did a good job of cleaning the room. We usually left about $2.00 tip for her daily, but there were a couple of days when we ran out of change (oops), and wasn’t able to leave anything, but the room was still cleaned very well. Our room was in villa 95. We liked this location because it was very close to the pool, lobby, and the beach.
