More about Majestic Elegance Punta Cana
Loved the Majestic Elegance
I just got home from a week at the ELEGANCE. I have to say it was wonderful. No, it is not finished; yes , everything is open. There might have been some issues, but I didn't experience it. Everything was great! The staff went out of their way to cater to our every need!
We renewed our vows while we were there. It was perfect. MS. GARCIA ,in guest services, took care of all that was needed. she made the evening like magic for us,She was great!!!!
Take plenty of bug spray, the mosquitos are horrible, that was the worst part, and OFF is $18 a bottle there.
All the restaurants were good. I don't think there was any of them that I did not like.
It was like heaven, drinking champagne all day, laying around any of the pools, or on the beach. We had a swim up room on the Elegance club side...was gorgeous!!
All Elegance members get the use of the Colonial as well.
Check out the Michael Jackson show. We went on several excursions, the OUTBACK SAFARI was the best.
Paradise at Majestic Elegance
Hello all TA members. We just returned from the Majestic Elegance 12/12/2008. This was our first visit to the Domincan Republic. We travelled with another couple who have travelled much more than we have. We stayed in Elegance Club Majestic Junior Suite and absolutely loved it. Our travel companions expressed that this was the nicest resort they have ever stayed at in the Caribbean!!
We did however encounter a few glitches which were rectified very soon after arrival. There was no air conditioning working at either the Majestic Elegance or Colonial the first day....the next day it was all fixed. Our balcony door did not lock properly (we were on the first floor) but it was looked after....many times lol. (Don't worry be happy)
We stayed on the first floor, direct access to the pool (no outdoor jacuzzi). Beautiful room. Very elegant. The beds were comfy, decor was lovely and whooooaaa the water pressure. We never had a problem with hot water it was great! Internal Jacuzzi tub in the corner near the balcony door, it also worked great!! Lots of pillows and towels, champagne and liquors left for us. The fridge was stocked daily with beer, pepsi, 7up and water and you could even get more beer or champagne if you wanted it. We used room service a couple of times and it was good as well. Our butler in the Elegance Club prepared a jacuzzi bath for us with bath salts bubbles, flower pedals and champagne on ice!! Thank you Henri!!
Pool area and Beach
The pool was a little cool but welcoming on a very hot day ( we had great weather for most of our week stay). There are intigrated jacuzzi's within the pools in the Elegance Club. No they are not hot, they are pool temperature but still felt great! We had Bali Beds in the Elegance Club which were very nice. There is personalized drink service in this area....Rose you are awesome!! The beach was heaven . You could walk either way from the resort for about 1 1/2 hours on the beach. Very clean and very clear. We all loved jumping the waves and laying under the Palapas.
Resaurants...all are open, a few rotate closing days
See and Sea
This restaurant is near the beach and opens at 10.00 AM. It serves buffet breakfast and lunch and is open in the evening for a la carte seafood. It was very good. Selection was quite varied.
9 Doors (Japanese)
We went here twice. Reservations are required for the hibatchi dining rooms. It was one of our favourites!
This was also one of our favourites. Reservations are also required. It is a full course sampling menu. Food was excellent.
This was one of our least favourites. The steak was overdone and potatoes and veg cold. Dont worry be happy... they may be just learning!
The food here was both good and not so good. Hopefully it is a learning curve. Tirimusu was outstanding.
The Buffet Restaurant (Flavors)
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We only went for breakfast. Alot of variety, very good flavour but sometimes not as hot as it should be.
We also went to the Majestic Colonial beach seafood/steak restaurant and had surf and turf... it was excellent!!
All desserts in all restaurants are awesome!! They look like they have all come out of a professional pastry/dessert shop and taste like it.
All bars are open. Thank you all bar staff you are wonderful!
Private bars at the Elegance Club, pool and terrace were very good. The swim up bar in the regular section was also very good. Both lobby bars serve the more premium drinks.
There was constuction going on every day.....something new was always finished but it was not in any way an intrusion.
We would like to make a special mention to all staff and service. It was absolutely wonderful. Everyone has a smile and an "Ola".
Everyone totally bent over backwards to make you happy. A 10 out of 5 in that area. A special thankyou to Calix ( Elegance Manager), Henri (Butler extrordinare), Domniville and Naccos also butlers. I cannot remember everyone's name but to all a big "Thank You".
Mr. Mosquito...you are a riot (LOCO) and we had many laughs with you.
MR. BOM BOM GREAT TEQUILA SLAMMERS ..main/beach lobby bar , Cesar / swim up pool bar, Christen / beach bar, Pedro and Rosa Elegance terrace bar
You are all wonderful "Hosta La Vista Baby" !!!!!
We will definitely return to the Majestic Elegance....hopefully next year! We did not want to leave.

Majestic Elegance - "Elegant"
We were originally booked from 15th to 29th November 2008; however the resort was not ready. We were contacted by our tour operator and advised that we could stay at the Majestic Colonial for the 1st week (Nov 15 to 21st) and then move to the Elegance resort for the 2nd week (Nov 21st to 29th).
This review will only be for the Majestic Elegance resort.
We went with an open mind, seeing this is a new resort and focused on the positive experiences that we encountered.
Upon our arrival at the Elegance Resort we were greeted by the Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Mr. Ricardo Espinosa.
Upon request we were upgraded to Elegance Club with many thanks to Mr. Espinosa.
The room was exactly as we had imagined it “Elegant” with a wonderful view of the ocean. We did encounter a couple of issues with the room, but they were corrected to our satisfaction, with the exception of the air conditioning.
The resort, on the first day had only 2 restaurants open, the Italian and the Sea & See buffet restaurant on the beach. As each new day rolled around a new restaurant would open. The food was excellent in all of the restaurants and reservations are only required in the gourmet and Japanese.
We were very impressed with the fact that you could just walk into the “a-la-carte” restaurants without reservations.
We only ate in the “main buffet – Flavors” on our last day, the variety, quality and display of the food was outstanding.
The drink selection was very good at all of the bars. The upper and lower level lobby bars served premium drinks and had a wide selection to choose from. All the bartenders were without a doubt the friendliest that we have encountered in all our years of travel.
The pool runs from basically one end of the resort to the other, with 2 private pools for the Elegance Club members. There were plenty of loungers (aluminum and not the plastic kind) around the pool areas. The “Bali beds” were very comfortable and great for an afternoon siesta. There was no shortage of palapas on the beach and we never had to play the “towel game”.
On opening day there were many “finishing touches” left to be completed. We were amazed at the amount of work that had been completed during the week and that the workers were unobtrusive and the noise was next to none.
We are quite confident that within the next month or so, they will be completed and will truly make this one of the premier destinations in the Punta Cana area.
We are returning in February 2009 for another 2 week stay and are anxious to see the progress that has been made.
At this time we would like to take this opportunity to personally thank those staff members that made our stay an enjoyable one.
In the Elegance Club: Calix, Larissa, Mariannie, Kayala, Angel & Ramone. These people went out of their way to assure that we were well looked after and that we did not require anything, and if we did, took care of it immediately and without any hesitation or question.
Sea & See (beach restaurant); Bartender Felix, server (waiter) Nelson
Steakhouse restaurant: server (waiter) Juan (his speech for the “best desserts in the Caribbean”) is very cute and funny.
There are many others who deserve praise, but unfortunately we can’t remember all of their names.
As we stated in our opening remarks we went with an open mind and had a wonderful time.
The Majestic Elegance Still Needs Time
I hate to continue with woes about the Elegance, but it truly is anything but elegant, for now.
We arrived on the 22nd of November, the day after it officially opened.
For all our problems, we really blame our tour operator "West Jet Vacations" for never sending someone to check the hotel out before it opened. We are still waiting to hear if they will make things right.
We waited for over an hour before the room I booked and paid extra for (Jr Suite) was ready. When we got to the room it wasn't the room we paid for and in fact wasn't even finished yet!
We waited another 2hrs before we got another room with no air conditioning and no hot water. When we tried to go to sleep (after travelling for 12hrs) we were awoken at midnight by an employee of the hotel to check out our air conditioning. "Muy Caliente" he told us. No kidding! Then at 1:30 am someone woke us up to try and fix it....No luck.
The next morning they had no rooms for us (we didn't get upgraded to the Elegance Club), and were offered a room next door at the Colonial. It was nice, but certainly not what we expected, or paid for.
All restaurants were not opened, and several bars also were not finished. Slowly it got better, but not before we left on the 29th.
No fire extinguishers any where, no smoke detectors, no fire hoses! Exposed wires in the bathrooms and if you needed to go, you were standing in a puddle of water....not too safe!
The front desk staff tried their best, but I think they were completely overwhelmed with all the problems with the hotel.
However, if you are going, let me say this: Go with an open mind. Construction sucks, but the employees are fabulous!
Go to the lobby bar and see Roberto and Ilsa! Sit with Roberto and give him a good tip and he will make you the best drinks on the island!! He is a very kind gentleman!
Then walk down to the Sea and See beach bar and see Felix and Faldo. If you take good care of them, they will most definitely take good care of you. Try a Chocolate Monkey. You won't be disappointed.
The beach was awesome, the water was clear and warm.
The people are so friendly, and the food was quite good....We certainly didn't lose weight while we were there!
I can tell you that this is NOT a 5 Star resort quite yet. In another 6 months this place will be fabulous. Would we go back? Probably, but not for another year!
This was our first trip to the Domincan and I was very impressed with Punta Cana beach. White sand and great for a long walk!
My suggestion for the Elegance is find another place for now, or be prepared for problems.
Don't expect 5* yet Great Potential, My Novel for insight
For those of you looking for some info or reviews on the brand new Majestic Elegance in Punta Cana, DR here is a first hand review. Full story below of my time there. skip to the bottom for the final word.
Although bookit.com's ad said it opened the end of October we checked in on November 21, 2008, which turned out to be opening day and stayed to the 30th of November 2008.
Upon arrival the category room I had booked, a Majestic Suite, was not available to what I thought was demand but as I later learned it was not even built yet. This Majestic Suite had both a jacuzzi inside and outside and since our purpose to go to the Dominican was to marry and honeymoon it was the perfect room.
We were asked to take a Jr Suite for the first night which since we had traveled much and it was a crash night it wasn't a major crisis and we were assured the next day we would receive the correct room.
The room was beautiful at first glance, Italian marble floors, indoor jacuzzi, four post bed and view of the pool area. Nice art and great decor.
As we unpacked we noticed quite a few things that should of been on the contractor's checklist, large gaping hole in the ceiling where the air vent cover should be exposing inside of the whole drop ceiling, inability to open our sliding glass door at all to the balcony and the most shocking feature of all, getting shocked when plugging in my phone charger into the ac jack for the TV. It was loose and ungrounded, TV had a cable that ended 2 feet from the TV so neither TV or cable was hooked up. Our high speed internet in our room did not even have a cat5 hookup installed yet but since the bed and bath were perfect it was our only concern for the night and a new room was ours the next day.
Our noon promise of a new room soon grew to 2 pm but we were assured we were moving to our Majestic Suite and our other 8 nights would be right.
As we entered our next room the first thing i checked for was the outdoor jacuzzi as the bellman brought in the bags, the back porch and a hole in the wall where maybe one was suppose to be hooked up but the only thing close to it was the pool 10 feet away. I immediately returned to the lobby where I was told i was mistaken, the computer shows it is a Majestic Suite and has a jacuzzi. Not so.
I am sometimes way too patient, the resort just opened, bound to be some glitches and I did get a super rate from bookit.com so maybe I'll take their promise of the right one the next day and spend our second night in another wrong room. We kept the room, hit the bar and beach and returned later to shower up for dinner.
My fiancee was in the shower adjusting the dials to try to get hot water to come out, none would and to complicate mattere no nozzle end was on the Euro-style metal hose and it more resembled a garden hose yet all water was cold no matter what. We changed the dial to the above shower head and nothing came from the head at all, then suddenly from the electric light above us the water started pouring out, OF THE SHOWER LIGHT which was on.
We jumped out quickly, threw the light switch off and called the operator for emergency maintenance before we got electrocuted. After an hour when no one showed I went to the front desk and discreetly told the staff the problem since the lobby was full of new guests. They did not have a empty room to move us to and assured me someone would be right over when I left there at 4:00 so we did the only thing possible, staying in a 5 star resort we took shampoo and soap to the pool shower and showered there without fear of electrocution. It was sort of like camping with a really good tent and outdoor showers.
We ate and waited until 10 pm and no one had come yet to fix the problem. At this point it was like other cases of potential electrical disaster was much bigger than ours and we didn't rank in the list to fix. I went out to one of the areas under construction myself and found two electricians working, when I told the one that understood English he came right away with his assistant, could not believe the danger and lack of service and he and his assistant spent 45 minutes fixing plumbing and electric in the shower. So we went to sleep with the dreams of a shower that worked the next day and the real room we suppose to get two nights before.
The next morning we had hot water, just it still came out of the light again, our time for a room we could shower in moved from 12:00 to 1, I wrote to bookit for help and then time went to 2pm then finally after wasting the entire day checking back at 3pm we had nothing. Orlando at the front desk had been great, he was honestly trying to fix it all but at this point I escalated it and requested his supervisor. Bookit contacted them on our behalf at this point in response to my email the night before.
We met with the Majestic Elegance supervisor and was promised the right room, he said he would go check out our room himself and to meet back at 4 pm in the lobby. While waiting for his return we were offered a certificate for a massage for two and asked to sign a waiver of claim against any refund requests for us to get the room category we had actually paid for. Obviuosly bookit.com scared them a little sending many many people there in December that had great weight. With us starting the wedding document process the next day and all factors of frustration from the first minute we just wanted it over, the money mattered less than the experience and getting our real room and agreed to sign. Finally at 4:30 we got taken to a new room, we had been upgraded to a Elegance Club room.
Without a doubt, I have stayed at 7 other resorts in the Dominican this was the nicest room at the hotel and probably the island. It was a two room suite, double balcony overlooking pool and beach and two jacuzzi s as promised in our reservation. Life was good, it didn't even matter much when they told us the hot water would be on in a half hour, air conditioning in one hour so we unpacked finally in our third room and sat on the bed to relax.
In the first two minutes sitting there we heard water begin to flow, somewhere, I pulled the front off our double sink and underneath was a waterline had three holes in it and water was shooting out into the air, the good news was we finally had hot water after three days.
Withing minutes we had two maids and a maintenance man trying to mop up the flood before the entire room was underwater, another person was trying to find the cutoff and it was like the Spanish Keystone Cops and we couldn't help but laugh, accept the fact a Two Star contractor built a Five star resort and make the best out of it regardless. We just went for our massage with our suitcases on the bed to stay dry and then the bar. By the way, the drinks are REAL good there.
It was our third night, we went through three rooms and know the fourth would be no different so it was time to accept the fact we just have to accept our fate or move to the older kid filled sister hotel next door.
We stayed, that air conditioner never actually started to work even though a repairman came every other day but the ocean breeze and view offset that with the sliders open. Next guests will not be so forgiving.
I will say it is hard to get mad at the staff, they didn't build it and they have a quality Five Star staff, very helpful friendly and doing the best they can and they are just overwhelmed. The staff outnumbered us 5 to 1 at least in the first days and if you count all the other workers and contractors there over 100 people are getting the rest of the rooms ready until late at night. There was no construction noise but the reality is they should of opened a few weeks later as a Five Star instead of rushing opening and delivering the experience they did.
For those of you going in December, let's hope you aren't the first one in a new room, three full buildings were still being furnished and each may have an electrical shower or surprise waiting you.
We had a wonderful time, the last 6 days went great, we married and honeymooned and the resort went from two restaurants open to all open prior to our departure. We got bounced out of the bar at the Elegance Club due to our original wristband even though we were upgraded to the Club which was a disappointment after all we went though. The Gourmet and Japanese were both awesome and the oceanfront seafood restaurant and cowboy steak house were improving daily and more bars were being finished and opened.
Our good friend Orlando at the front desk gave us a late check-out and we really hated to go on our last day, they had worked really hard and come a long ways in the first week. If you are expecting a full Five Star experience then maybe you should wait a while, if you can adopt an island attitude and have patience and drink the place is perfect already by now. One thing, If I had any small kids with me I would of moved to the Colonial, it is not kid friendly electrical anywhere,at all. Light fixtures along the side walk with taped power wires, stairs at the beach restaurants with no light covers and power easily reachable by kids, just not worth the risk and more fun programs for them next door. Don't expect internet in your room it's only in the lobby on a wireless router and whatever you do don't roam on a Verizon aircard with your laptop, in USA a Mb is $.25 and there it is $20.48 PER MB, one thing that wasn't the fault of the Majestic Elegance.
I know I picked the right woman to marry if she smiled through our week and still kept her cool.
BEACH, FOOD, DRINKS, STAFF and attitude there was totally awesome, by the 5th day, lol.
We had such a nice experience there, (except for the parts that weren't) we will probably return for our 1st anniversary with all our kids.
A few bumps at first but turned out wonderful
My husband and I stayed at the majestic elegance from Nov 29 - Dec 7 in elegance club. Our room was beautiful however there were a few problems with the room, such as the toilet did not flush correctly, there was no hot water in the shower, and the refridgerator did not work. Within 2 days and several visits to our room by the maintenence crew everything was fixed. We at one point asked to switch rooms but according to the staff at the elegance club lobby there were none. The room really was nice, just like the pictures on the website. Also, the power turns off in the room whenever you leave so that means that the alarm clock turns off and is blinking when you get back, we just started only setting it before we went to bed.
The beach is gorgeous, we had several people just walking on the beach asking what resort we were staying at because our beach was so much better than theirs. Be sure to wear your flip flops when you are going from the beach to your room or restroom because there are sticker burrs in some areas between the palapas and the cemented paths. Get up early to get a good palapa near the water, we got up around 7:30 each morning and pretty much had our pick. The beach attendent Anely really made the beach a great place to be. He was so happy and cheerful each day. You can't miss him walking up and down the beach several times each day wearing a red hawaiian shirt and shorts.
The restaurants were good, we especially liked the steak restaurant and the chinese restaurant at the Colonial. The italian restaurant was good but the first time we went there we had to wait 1 1/2 hours to receive all of our entrees. The second time we tried it the wait was minimal. The buffet was good, we didn't catch her name but the greeter at the buffet was a welcome site each morning, always a smile on her face. All the staff are very friendly and helpful, however this was the first place we have been to that there was some difficulty communicating with the staff, so if you haven't already brush up on your spanish.
It will definitely take a few more months probably for the resort to be completely finished but like everyone else has said they are working day and night. There were literally some nights that we left the lobby bar and would come back the next day for breakfast and more things would be finished. There were some exclusive services in the elegance club that we were expected but did not receive. We never received our 4 bottles of alcohol, a bottle of champagne, the pillow menu, aromatherapy for the pillows, bath salts and a newpaper in the room. Also we never received our "surprise present." Or if we did, we didn't know it.
Overall it was a wonderful, relaxing vacation after the problems with our room were fixed.
My husband and I stayed in the Elegance Club Jr. Suite (Adult Only section) from Dec. 5-8. I was very nervous about the hotel not being fully functional due to the prior posts. Luckily for us, the Majestic Elegance is absolutely stunning! Yes, it's not 100% complete at the time of our stay, but the portion of the hotel that they're working on does not really affect our stay, like the Spa & gift shops not being completed or some of the common area bathrooms did not yet have the toilet paper holder installed.
We arrived at the hotel at around 5:30pm and there were confusions at the main lobby. The person that greeted us did not ask if we were staying in the Elegance Club or not , so we stood in line at the main lobby. I then remembered that there is a separate VIP check-in for those who are staying in the club section. After we informed the staff of this information, then we were taken away to their club section for the check-in process. By now it was 6pm and our room was not ready. This, we had expected based on previous reviews. Therefore we just went to their rooftop bar & hung out with drinks. I guess that we stayed there too long because when we came back to find out where our room is, the staff had been looking for us for a while! I also wanted to point out how much I really like the bracelet for the club section. It wasn't the plastic wristband. It was a nice brown rope with a little oval coconut shell attached to the rope with the name "Majestic Resort" painted on. Obviously this is a girl's opinion.
So we got to our room, which happened to be the closest room to the club lounge. It was room 1154 and we had all of the promised liquors. Since we paid for the lowest priced room in the club section, we did not get an oceanview. No biggie since we were 30 seconds from the beach. The only thing that did not function in our room was that the AC condensation was leaking from the ceiling onto the floor. We discovered this in the morning. It must have happened overnight. Since we were so close to the club lounge, we were able to quickly walk over & inform the staff of the problem. Their repairman happened to also be in the same area & he fixed it immediately. For the rest of our stay, the guest services representative in the club section would check in with us everyday to make sure that everything is still working.
Overall, our room was great and definitely have the "Wow" factor. If you were detail-oriented, you can notice that a few finishing touches were needed like our four-post bed is supposed to have a fabric draped over at the top. I only noticed this while walking around. We still thought that the room was amazing.
Like other posters have mentioned, the staffs are wonderful. The beach is great - nice soft sand & clear water. The pools looked great as well but we didn't really use it. At the end of the day we would come over to nap on the Bali beds because it was so comfortable! We didn't really venture out to the main section of the pool system as we preferred the beach. We also didn't notice the animation team since we tend to be very lazy and if you stuck to the beach section closest to the club lounge, the staff didn't really come over to ask for your participation in their daily activities & programs.
Lastly on the food. We were only there for 3 nights. Our meal at the Italian restaurant was okay. It could have been because what we ordered. The steak restaurant was the best! The Japanese restaurant was yummy, although it seemed like a lot of hassles to make what is essentially a delicious stirred fried rice & meats. The buffet food was typical of most all-inclusive resorts. It's good but you may get sick of it after a number of stays. My husband is picky so he ate the same thing everyday. I like variety and their buffet satisfied my cravings just fine. In our opinion to everyone who is coming in the near future: do not sweat about this hotel not being completed. We had a wonderful stay and the resort looks gorgeous! We would definitely return here again!
We just want to give a special thanks to the Animation Team who went out of their way to provide us with their best service. They are all great employees and were a lot of fun to be around.
We look forward to seeing them all again on our next visit.
Gerd Brockelmann/ Greg Pape & the rest of the Port Hardy Crew.
Open to early maybe next season
We arrived November 29th and noticed a lot of construction. When we were being shown our room they told us they had 4a la carte restaurants but each had a turn to be closed. The buffet was not opened yet. The gym and spa weren't opened still under construction. The Disco and the Sports Bar as well as the Stores were still under Construction. Out of 600 rooms 200 were opened but not ready. Water leaking from the rooms above , some rooms had no hot water , doors didn't lock, safes didn't work, wires everywhere outside, lights didn't work, noises coming from the drain in the jacuzzi. Most rooms did not have functioning Air Conditioning. These were the finished rooms.
The power outages were frequent. At restaurants food was not prepared right when ordered. The food was cold at the buffet when it was finally opened. When the gym finally opened it was a hazard. Two people were hurt, stitches, broken leg. When we paid for the upgrade to the Majestic club we just got the same service as all visitors. We paid the extra and it was very disappointing. The employees were nice but the management were doing damage control. They kept insisting that it was ready or it would be fixed tomorrow. Famous last words. The resort will be beautiful in about 6 months but it is nowhere from ready at this time so don't waste your hard earned money and be disappointed.
There are photos to prove the problems there is two of our room a light switch and our bed. The bed was not finished there is a piece of wood missing at the top of the bed as well as the canopy . We did not have our 4 bottles of Alcohol as well as the DVD player. The TV was not mounted on the wall. Bottom line they opened way to early and rushed everything to make a buck.
We complained but it got us nowhere.
Went with an open mind, was not disappointed!
A group of 7 of us stayed at the Elegance from Nov 30 - Dec 7, 2008. We had a great time! There were a few issues, but nothing bad enough to ruin our trip. When this resort is complete in a couple months, it will be fantastic!
We had requested a room close to the beach, but we ended up with rooms just about as far away from the beach as possible. We decided that it wasn't too far of a walk (just a couple minutes) and didn't ask to be moved. Book a Club Room if this is really important to you.
We stayed in the regular junior suite. The rooms are just beautiful! The beds look wonderful and I got a good night's sleep each night. Only thing is our mattress seemed to be slumping a bit already and its not a pillowtop - but still comfortable.
Had a few issues with the room.
I had read that there was no hot water in previous reviews - but for our group, it seemed to be the opposite! We had no cold water! The cold tap would start off luke-warm, go to scalding, and then after 5-10 min cool off. The water temperature for showering & the jacuzzi were difficult to master. We only had a trickle of cold water for the jacuzzi, called the front desk and got the run around for 2 hours. They finally sent up maintennance who claimed to have fixed the problem, but they didn't. Finally, my boyfriend went down to the desk the next morning and asked for the manager. It was fixed within a half hour.
My friend's room had more problems. They had the same jacuzzi problem, the light in their shower leaked water, everytime they took a shower it flooded half their room and their toilet seat was broken. They reported these issues, but the only thing that got fixed was the jacuzzi as far as I know. My other friend's room had water temperature problems, even their toilet water was scalding. This issue was fixed, however they also reported a broken hand set on their phone and jacuzzi tub plug and neither issue was resolved.
Still a lot of construction going on, but it didn't bother us at all. They were working on the shops and the disco I believe. The gardens should be as beautiful as the Colonial in a couple years.
Amazing! Clean and not crowded!
Great! We didn't get to the beach until 10-11am and we were still able to find beach chairs. The beach is less rocky at the Elegance. Water sports weren't available during our stay, but they were working on it. We were happy to use the facilities of the Colonial.
Great food! I'm a picky eater but I loved the steakhouse, japanese and the buffets. Gourmet was okay - my friends loved the food, but again I am picky. Did not really like the Italian and the man who took our order was pretty abrupt and rude. We also went to the Mexican restaurant at the Colonial which was delicious!
This is where this resort shines! Thanks to Blas (WE MISS YOU!), Cecil at the pool bar, Roberto and Thomas in the lobby bar, Eddie at the Gourmet, Felix at the beach and to all the entertainment staff. You made our stay wonderful! Housekeeping also deserves a big thank you - they service the rooms at least twice a day!
To anyone that is going soon - keep an open mind and you will be fine. For sure you are going to have some ups and downs - but try not to let it ruin your time. We got pretty upset the first night when our jacuzzi wasn't working and we considered asking to be moved to the Colonial - but we are glad we decided to let it go and enjoy ourselves.
Any questions, feel free to message me!
