More about The Royal Suites Turquesa by Palladium
Royal Suites and the whole resort is getting better all the time
Our 4th time at Royal Suites Turquesa
We arrived on Monday 19th of January back home in Finland from our 11 nights dream vacation from Playa Bavaro, Punta Cana. Again we were guests at Royal Suites Turquesa, we else we could go?
Transfers and check-in/check-out
We arrived late in the evening at the airport with German Condor flight. Our good taxi friend Sr. Hector waited us at the airport and gave us a good drive to Royal Suites. Check-in was quick and we got the room we wanted, thanks to Medina and Daniela. Edward and Daniela took care of our late departure.
We had wonderful room near a beach. There were some new services: butlers, pillow menu, night down, minibar refilling desires etc. Freash fruits and bottle of rom waited us in the room when arriving.
Royal Gourmet was again our main restaurant, thanks to Juan and others, but we also had four times a la carte: 2 times Oriental Bambu, once Spanish el Quijote, and the brand-new Brazilian Rodicio. Marvellous medium-done beefs we got on last Friday in a good co-operation with the young chef Manuel, thanks to you. There is soon opening new Japanese restaurant also.
Two times we took part in karaoke. It was nice to sing Elvis an Frank songs on big stage. Once we had also the weekly management meeting in the theatre. We were happy to meet Sr. Octavio and Sr. Llandro who really take good care of the clients and the resort activities.
Pool and beaches
Royal pool was renewed: new chairs on the pool and new Bali-like sun beds on beach area. We used the pool daily and also had our sea swimming nearly daily.
Good royal wines were available in all restaurants and we got good service in Hemingway`s bar and our Royal Lobby bar by Yanet.
Some days we also visited the near-by resorts: Occidental Grand Flamenco and Bavaro Princess and we really were happy to get back home to Royal Suites Turquesa.
We will be back when its is possible. The journey is just a little bit long from Finland.
Absolutely Top Notch
My wife and I just returned from 7 days at the Royal Suites Turquesa (RST). We don't usually write reviews, but feel one is needed in this instance. We find Trip Advisor to be a useful tool, so would like to add our 2 cents.
The RST is an adult only section of the Grand Palladium complex, which includes 3 other resorts (Bavaro, Punta Cana and Palace). The complex is HUGE...it takes over 10 minutes to walk from one end to the other via the beach! The RST is located at the far end of the complex and is much quieter and private compared to the rest of the resort.
We feel that the major perk of the RST is the ability to make reservations at any of the a la cartes on the entire complex. If you stay at the RST you can make the reservation with your own personal butler. If you stay at any of the other 3 resorts you are not able to reserve a la cartes, and you have to wait in line at the restaurant to make a reservation the night of. We talked to a few people who were staying at the other resorts who had to wait in line for over 2 hours to get into some of the more popular restaurants. We, on the other hand, make our reservation the day before, or morning of, and then arrive at the restaurant 5 minutes before our reservation and completely jump the line. It's incredible.
We ate at the a la cartes most nights. Our favourites were: 1) Japanese- tables of 8 where they cook the food in front of you. High quality food and sevice, great atmosphere. This was the most popular restaurant on the resort. It was a minimum 2 hour wait to get in if you didn't have a reservation. 2) Spanish-great service, atmosphere and high quality food. 3) Mexican.
With the RST you also have access to your own restaurant- The Royal Gourmet that no one else has access to. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. You order from a menu and get the rest of your food from a buffet. The food was excellent quality, and they have a different dinner menu each night. You could easily eat every meal here. We had breakfast here each morning, lunch once, and dinner once.
Some of the other highlights of the resort compared with the rest of the Grand Palladium include: your own personal beach area. A waiter comes around and serves you drinks on the beach. Also, at noon every day they came with fruit skewers that were delicious.
Free internet in the lobby. The other resorts had to pay $8 US an hour. Free daily newspapers in the lobby (English ones were the NY Times and National Post).
Your own personal butler with whom you make reservations.
Access to premium drinks both on your resort and at the a la cartes.
Rooms were very nice. It seemed like every time we left the room it would be cleaned when we got back. They give you a free pillow menu (I chose the feather pillow, my wife chose one with good neck support). 2 person jacuzzi in room, king bed, pull out couch, MP3 docking station....the works.
One comment I would like to address from a past review of the RST is that there is no nightlife. My wife and I were blown away by this comment after spending a week there. There is SO MUCH TO DO! Sure, if you wanted to chill out, then you could be very happy staying by the pool bar at the RST every night, where it is relaxing, good music playing, and most people involved in conversation. It stays open untl about 1am. You also have access to the rest of the resort. The disco is bumping every night, there are two theatres with shows at 10 pm each night. A number of lobby bars that were always busy with live entertainment. A 24 hour Sports Bar. There was a beach party one night with lots of fun games. The night life is whatever you want it to be...a lively action packed one, or a chilled out, by the pool type night. That's the beauty of this resort, you really have it all. We mixed and matched depending on our mood and energy level.
My wife and I took advantage of the Sports Complex on a few of the days as well. There are 6 tennis courts, a soccer pitch, table tennis, badminton, 2 full length and marked basketball courts. We played tennis and basketball, and the facilities are in top condition. Much better than most community outdoor complexes in Canada.
The Sports Bar is open 24 hours and we made nightly stops there for popcorn and Ice Cream (Hey...it's vacation...don't judge). They also serve alot of other food 24 hours.
Overall, we can't say enough about this resort. We ran into another couple from home who are on their 8th all inclusive vacation. This was their favorite. This was our 3rd , and our favorite. Also, it's worth mentioning that neither one of us ran into stomach issues all week.
I didn't mention the beach, because any resort in Punta Cana has an incredible beach. This is no different. The weather was 28-30 each day, with 45 minutes of drizzle on day one, and a downpour on day 6. The resot of the time it was sunny and hot.
We just returned from a amazing week at the(All Adult) Royal Suites. The food was great(lobster twice a week and champagne at any meal at no cost to royal suite guests), the rooms were great the staff were wonderful especially Cely and Carlos our Butlers. The beach was beautiful(Royal Suite guests have their own private beach area) and that is our main purpose is the sun and beach. Couldnt have asked for anything better. If there was one thing I disliked was that the transportation around the Palladium complex needed to be more often or bigger trains. Other than that it was a perfect holiday. We will definatley return here in the future. If you want relaxation and quiet this is the place for you.
worth every penny
This is a wonderful place to get away! You have a choice to stay at your Adult only resort, or hit the night life at the other 3 resorts available to you. The beach and pool are closely located to your rooms. You can view both from your balcony.
The employees are awesome, and surprise at how many languages they can speak!
Everyone respects everyones privacy and valuables.
Carlos (the butler) will bend over backwards for you, to make your stay enjoyable. He is there for you, ask him anything, he will have the answer, or get you one A.S.A.P.
We have only been home for a week, and can't wait to go back!
You will not be disapppointed.
My pics; we went to swim with the Dolphins, about 20 minutes from the resort. We had a laugh at the bathrooms, see the picture with the feet! They offer so many things there to do, see the pic of the para sailing! The landscape is awesome, loved the trees! The jacquizzi was beautiful decorated with flowers every day!
The Royal vacation
Well to start off, when we got to the hotel lobby, we were greeted with cold wet towels.(very refreshing) The service from there was unbeliveable. Cely the butler took such good care of us. Then we made are way to the swim up bar. We met Dany, Sandy and Manuel the best bar-tenders I have ever seen, There was nothing they could not serve up. They were very friendly and made are time at the bar and pool so much fun. The rooms were perfect, the nice big hot tub and a king size bed and always cleaned to perfection. The food in the buffets was not the best, but the a la carte were very good.To end, all I can say is We will most definitely go back, and for all of you who are going you will not be disappointed.
The bar has been set... - high!!
This was our first trip to the south and it was such a positive experience that we are already planning for next year. We chose the Palladium resort based on recommendations from friends who were very happy with their previous stays at the resort.
We booked late (1 month before) and in order to get the specific flight we wanted, there were only a few Palladium spots left. By the time I was ready to purchase, the other sections were no longer available and the Royal Suites was the only option. This by far, turned out to be our lucky day.
From the moment we arrived we were amazed. Of course, this being our first trip, we really didn't have anything to compare to. Now, we do.
Check in - We arrived around noon, checked in and received our complimentary fruit juice. Our room was not ready, which being 3 hours before check-in was okay with us. We took a walk to the pool, checked out the beach and made our way to the Royal Gourmet for lunch. We returned to the lobby around 2 to check on our room and were told it would be another half hour. We waited, around 3:30 I was starting to get a little frustrated as guests coming in 2-3 hours after us were being checked in and taken to their rooms. The bellhop ended up checking on the status of our room and told us it would be ready at 4. We decided to change and sit by the pool for awhile. He came and found us shortly after 4 to inform me that our room was now ready. Well worth the wait...
Room - We received a ground floor room, which was ok with us - it was the second room from the beach of building 50 and directly beside the pool. The room was spacious, king bed, flat screen, clean and cool - A/C worked great. An outlet had seperated from the wall, and was fixed within 5 mins of being reported. Rooms were cleaned and turned down at the times requested.
Service - the entire week, we did not experience negative service. Everyone, had a smile for you, spoke to you and made you feel welcome. The extra benefits of being a guest of the Royal Suites were noticed throughout the entire resort.
The bulters were excellent, they went out of their way to speak to you each time they saw you and often would take a walk around the pool to see if there was anything that they could do. We made use of the butler service to make reservations at the a la cartes. Very nice to arrive, walk past the lines and be escorted to your waiting table. Not to mention the benefits of an upgraded wine selection by showing your RS bracelet.
This may or may not have anything to do with being a RS guest, but one night we were at the palace lobby, looking at the poster for the show in one of the theatres, the bellboy noticed us, came over and asked us if we would like him to give us a ride there instead of waiting for the train. We gratefully accepted.
Food - We ate most of our meals at the Royal Gourmet as we enjoyed the staff and atmosphere and of course the food was excellent. We also ate at the Italian twice, the international once and the Mexican once. We enjoyed every meal, did not have any issues with the food whatsoever. We did noticed however, that once you were served your food, rarely did anyone check to see if everything was ok. Not a big deal...
Pool - Enjoyed the RS pool, spent most of the week there. A bit windy the last 3 days on the beach for us, so we were content by the pool. The pool staff worked hard to keep the pool clean and noticed them checking the chemical levels often which was reassuring to see. Lots of towels and chairs - a few chairs had some maintenance issues though.
Pool bar and staff were awesome!! Great drinks, friendly smiles, fresh fruit brought to you every day in your chair and a selection of sandwiches and salads if you wanted a snack.
Beach - The Royal Suites has a private beach for guests only. Very nice - lots of beach chairs, palapas, and bali beds. Beautiful beach...we walked an hour down the beach one day and about an hour up the beach another. The beach at Punta Cana is truely amazing. Took pics of the sunrise a couple of days.
I really can't say enough about the Royal Suites. As a couple, it was exactly what we were looking and hoping for. Calm and quiet. If we were to go again as part of a group, I would probably stay at another section of the Palladium only because I feel the Royal Suites should remain the quiet, relaxing place it is. Our experience there is one we will remember and we will definitely return one day.
Exactly what we were looking for
My boyfriend and I were looking for a relaxing getaway from the Atlantic Canadian snow and that is exactly what we found at the Royal Suites. We arrived late evening and were quickly checked into our room while we enjoyed a nice cold cerveza to begin our vacation. We were taken to the wrong room initially but quickly discovered the mistake and taken to the correct one. We were on the ground floor which I thought might be a problem but it turned out to be a great thing, nice and close to all the action. The room was clean and bug free the entire week, just be sure you are comfortable with the person you are traveling with as the toilet is in a room with a stall door that is open on the top and bottom, not very private.
Cely, one of the Butlers was amazing!! She made our week. She assisted us with booking our a la cartes, exchanging our pillows for the memory foam ones listed on the "pillow menu" and set us up with the most amazing private excursion. To top it off she even painted my nails!
The private excursion we took was to the Punta Cana Ecological Reserve. There are fruit trees, medicinal herbs, bee hives, large gardens, a small area with farm animals, iguanas, and 11 natural lagoons. We are able to swim in some of them and they are beyond amazing. We were picked up at the resort by "Miami Zach" in his own car and driven to the reserve. It was totally private, just my partner and I and Zach. We had control over the entire thing, no buses, not other tourists, and timing was all ours. It was a perfect day. I highly recommend speaking with Cely or any of the other Butlers about other trips you can take like this one plus they tend to run half the price of the other excursions.
The restaurants were great, we enjoyed all of them except the Royal Gourmet. It may have just been the night we picked to check it out but neither of us enjoyed our meals there. We also ate at the Mexican and Bamboo a la cartes and they were both excellent as were all of the buffets.
We also had a couples massage at the spa and the women were fantastic. You should book ahead and this is something the butlers can assist with as well.
The pool was refreshing, clean and it wasn't too hard to find a lounger although there are quite a few broken ones around so you may have to search for ones that work properly.
The beach was amazing and it was nice to have the private section offered to the Royal Suites guests. Even though it was windy on our last 3 days the section was far enough from the water that you weren't pelted by the sand also no issue here getting loungers at any point in the day.
If you walk down the beach to the right past the Palladium flag you end up in a little town where you can buys souvenirs to take home. The people can be very aggressive so be prepared and go when you are in a good mood. We choose to purchase items at the only store that left us alone as we walked by. Also make sure you bargain with them, they will try to charge outrageous prices but offer a 1/4 of what they are asking and chances are they'll take it.
I would recommend this resort to anyone looking for an amazing getaway and having access to all 4 resorts in the Palladium family was a bonus, so much selection for places for food and drink.
Lastly, make sure before you arrive you brush up on some common Spanish phrases. Most people try to make an effort to speak English so you should grant them the same common courtesy . There are a lot of Europeans at this resort so English isn't the most widely spoken language.
Had a great time!
The Royal Suites were recommended by friends who had been to the Palladium Palace - we were not disappointed. At first we had difficulty booking this accommodation with Thomson Holidays but our travel agent investigated and found out that they are listed as Palladium Palace Junior Suites with sea view. ??
Flights were with Thomsonfly and were very good with adequate legroom. Punta Cana Airport is very efficient and picturesque with thatched roofs and open air environment. People who need assistance should be aware that there are no air bridges or ambilifts, so stretchers are used to carry on and off passengers who can’t manage stairs. The coaches used by Thomson holiday for transfers to the hotels had very high steps and were not easy to get on and off – Taxis were fine.
Check in at the reception was civilised and quick, the rooms are located in three buildings. Each building had three levels, but no lifts. Everyone is allocated a Butler whose job it is to help you enjoy your stay, and answer any questions. Everyone at the resort was friendly and helpful.
The Rooms were very clean and well equipped, we didn’t appreciate the Jacuzzi bath in the centre of the room and would have preferred a fully enclosed bathroom instead. The minibar was stocked with premium drinks every day, there was a pillow menu and an MP3 speaker system so if you take your iPod you can just plug it in. (There is also free wi-fi, useful if you have an iPhone or wireless laptop.) The pool area was very good as was the beach. Both had lots of beds and umbrellas – there was no need to get up at 6am to reserve your spot as you did in the other parts of the Palladium resort.
People in the Royal Suites had exclusive access to the Royal Gourmet, which we found far superior to any of the other Restaurants at the resort, and you don’t need to make reservations!
The Royal Suites had a bar but no entertainment, not a problem for us, there were plenty of other places on the resort if you wanted that type of thing.
The final touches were being added to the NEW Royal Suite extension as we left. These rooms are further away from the beach but are much bigger and better equipped, e.g. multi spray showers. The ground floor level rooms have ‘swim-up’ balconies. We were told that they are due to open on April 20th 2009.
We had a great time and would certainly consider going back again!
First, of many stays!
This was our first trip to the Royal Suites, it won't be our last.
We traveled March 30- April 6th
The Royal Suites are a must for those that want a quiet part of the resort.
You can always hop on the train to take you anywhere else in the complex, for entertainment, a bustling lobby, shops, other pools, Casino, etc.
Or, the Royal also had their bellboy drive us to our destinations via their golf cart, which was usually parked in front of the lobby.
The seperate a-la-carte, pool, bar,& beach all go toward making it an exclusive and very beautiful part of the resort.
They opened another part of the RST while we were there, it looks very nice people!!
Swim up rooms, a huge pool, very elegant!!
Can't wait until next year, we are going for 2 weeks.
Actually, I'm still looking for last minute deals, to go again this year!!
Hope you all get to enjoy the experience, at least once in your travels......be good to yourselves!
A GREAT place to stay and be spoilt
We originally booked a ordinary suite, but there was a bit of a mix up with another booking, so we got upgraded
I was glad we did, the room was spotless, flowers decorated our bath, bed, hand basin EVERY DAY
Heather (our Thompson Rep) was very good and very informative with various trips (which she arranged for us, with no problem)she could teach other company reps how to do it, right, I was sorry I didnt get a chance to thank her, as she was off ill when we depated (hope she is well now
The food in the resturant was excellent, service very good (our glasses and coffee cups werent empty for long)
The grounds are well kept with plenty of garderners around, all with a friendly Hola, each day
I cant recommend the Royal suites highly enough, the service is second to none, and about the friendliest place I have stayed in
The outback Safari was very good, Gregory, our guide, bought us upto date with local history and traditions, he made the trip great, with various tales and pointed out a lot of things of interest (including the lizards, without alarming people)it was a shame the trip wasnt longer
(for anyone going on the Outback Safari, take plenty of sweets, pens, pencil, paper, in fact any thing you take for granted in our schools, these kids have bugger all and really appreciate ANYTHING you give them, when you are at the locakl coffee plantation(?) get the local coffee/chocolate, in the jars with yellow lids, its a lot better than anything in a packet, and the local 'home' made sweets, and the raw sugar)
If you only do one trip, this is the one to take, its worth every cent (or peso)
IF I wanted to look for something to complain about, I would be hard pushed to find it
We tipped everyone at the end of our time there, but dropped the maid a $ a day, she covered our bed with flowers every day
The pool was great (if a little cool) the bar service, excellent, with plenty of waiting staff
The gym was good, if a little small at times (no rowing machine ??) and no hot tub in the spa (thats all I could complain about)
If you want to be spoiled on a holiday, upgrade to the Royal suites, you wont regret it
The site is very big, so they have 2 trains going around the whole complex, at 10-15 minute intervals, and even if you just go round the site, you will see how big it actually is
We dont have any kids, but from what we saw, they are well catered for with plenty for them to do (I wouldnt say its for babes in arms though) but I think the Royal suites are adults only
There is no rushing down at 6am to get a sunbed, there are plenty and lots of towels (they have a suntrap type of bed, they are really comfy, just make sure you put on your suntan lotion, because you will fall asleep, they are that comfy)
The evening entertainment was very good (something different every night, but repeated each week) but are different arenas
They have a dance school every day and different sports lessons for the kids (we watched them doing archery, a few budding archers there)
The pool side bar shut 10-11pm each nigh, but it maybe a good idea to wear bug spray
The casino isnt very big and I dont think you will wn a fortune, but it's worth at least one visit
There are a few gift shops on the beach, but its down to haggling if you want a good price on anything
The cigars are a great price and get a bottle of their 'magic potion' (I dont know if it actually works though) but it tastes okay
There are lots of handmade jewelry out there and lots of paintings by 'local' artists
The locals come onto the resort every couple of days (but still haggle for the best price)
I would definately go back here, its a really nice place to relax in, with excellent service from EVERYONE we met (might be good to brush up on basic spanish if you would like to have a conversation with the locals though)
The resort staff speak VERY good English (and I assume, French and German)
I enjoyed myself and would (and have) recommended this to anyone who is considering a Dominican Republic holiday and wants to spoil themselves while there
I would like to let ANYONE and EVERYONE who is considering staying here
The service and staff are exlempary,
If anyone does stay here, let me know your thoughts on the service and staff
AND try the tours if you want to learn about the locals (and take, sweets, pencils, paper, books, maps, anything in fact that schools here in the US and UK take for granted)
THE kids and teacher will REALLY appreciate it
Regards to ALL the staff at the Royal suites and the Monster truck Safari and the Outback safari (this is the BEST one in my opinion)
AND regards to Heather (our Rep), YOU did a great job
Gregory, our Outback guide, he knows a lot about the local fauna and flowers, and it seems like he knows EVERYONE on the island, he made the trip a lot of fun
Waiting for the show to begin
Ocean Village Bavaro Beach
My wife and I have booked into the Ocean Village Bavaro Beach Resort in March.
Any feedback on this resort?
I can't seem to find any reviews on Debbies Dominican page or on this site
Is this a hotel among other hotels? I found reviews for the Ocean Beach Resort and Spa but that is a different hotel I believe.
Any info would be appreciated

RE: Ocean Village Bavaro Beach
HI, I'm from nyc , my husband and I are traveling to Punta cana, Melia carribe tropical resort from march 14 till the 21st. We went last year and had a great time , beaches are fab. When are you guys going. I'm researching what type of other nightlife they offer there other than the resort. Not having much luck . Jill
