Apartments

by sniperzele

Hi!

I'm planing to visit Punta Cana from 17.12. till 12.1. But I'm going to sleep in some apartment. Does anybody have experience with getting apartment in high season? I want to reserve it now so i'm looking on internet for them. The cheapest one is 1500 $ for a mounth. Is this good price for high season?

This my first time that i'm coming to Dominican Republic so I don't know good locations in Punta Cana. I'm looking for a locations full of partys and with good beach.

Has anybody have a number or internet address of some cheap and good apartments in good locations in Punta Cana?

Thanks!

I'm not familiar with Punta Cana but it looks like 1500 US is a bit much. You probably should ask the question at www.dr1.com/forums. There's a lot of foreigners living there who can help you out better - that is if no VT'er come to your rescue.

hey my name is Juan carlos...I live and work here in Punta cana Dominican republic, that price is too much U$ 1500.- !!?? what are you renting man...a pent house ? well the average price is U$700.- for an apartment with one room, kitchen, bathroom, close to the beach..and the most important for you in the center of bavaro....do not rent an apartment in Punta Cana...which is the area closer to the airport and it is boring there...if you are looking for great atmosphere and going to the parties, Discos like mangu, imagine, areito, hard rock cafe, montecristo...etc,etc. then the best place could be Villas bavaro or Los Corales...I could get you the numbers of some contacts i have there and you could make your own reservation...Los corales has the best bavaro beach..and relax - chill out bars at the beach. and just about 300 mts walking distance from the apartments. Also there is the option of renting a room with kitchen in a condo with pool, in los corales.

let me know more details, if you already have the apartment rented or not to help you more and start searching for you.

Supermarkets

by John4Deb

My husband and I are spending a month in Punta Cana, and can not find any information on supermarkets. What food do I bring from home that I will not find there. Thanks

Depends...Where is home? You can't just take foodstuff into another country. What do you eat? There are local markets in Punta Cana..Need more info to answer.

Pretty vague question - first of why would you want to bring food from home when you are going to be spending time abroad - all those lovely ripe topical fruits. Yum!

Secondly, most countries have restrictions on importing foodstuffs. You would have to check with the DR authorities on the rules regarding restrictions, quantities, import duties, etc. I've been to the DR a number of times and have never gone hungry.

"I've been to the DR a number of times and have never gone hungry."

I second the above post! Some of the best food in DR!

It is forbidden by law to import meat, dairy, fruit and vegetables and anything related to that, just so you know. If Customs decides to open your baggage, you could start your vacation with a pretty heavy fine. Not to mention that maybe the country you're flying from has their rules on what you can export.

What exactly are you looking for?

Re: Supermarkets

Hi
There are many supermarkets in Punta Cana. Some are small with mostly basic local products, some are better stocked and cater to the ex-pats with foreign imports.
It depends where you are staying and whether you have transport or not.

Take a look at the maps here - many of the supermarkets are on these maps.
If you are staying near Los Corales (see map 4) there is a good one there with foreign imports.
