Looking for advice Punta Cana, Bavaro, Bayahibe areas / resorts
HI...I'm looking for a variety of information so hopefully I can benefit from others experiences and input. My wife and I are looking to spend our 10-year anniversary trip in the Dominican. Although we love what we've seen of the beaches and resorts in Punta Cana, Bavaro, Bayahibe areas, I'm tentantive with its "remoteness".
Here are my main questions:
1. On our travels, we LOVE to rent a car or hire taxis and go explore. We like to indulge off the usual path and find some hole in wall to eat, etc. I'm having great difficulty finding info related to ease of getting around, rental costs, and safety for a couple out exploring.
2. We like to Scuba dive. It seems the better diving is off the south coast around Catalina Island and Bayahibe. I have not been able to get a good report for diving off Punta Cana or Bavaro.
3. We are a bit torn between the all inclusive and the small and quaint. Any personal experiences or advice is greatly appreciated.
4. Having a difficult time singling out any of the all-inclusive resorts..they all seem to be the same thing...help!

I loved Dreams LaRomana and it's a short walk to Bayahibe. For your 10th anniversary it would be great. There's a dive shop in Bayahibe and a few small places to stay and some of the hole in the wall places to eat. You could contact the dive shop for more info. http://www.scubafun.info/
