Hotel Brisas del Yaque: Nice budget hotel

  • We stayed at the hotel in July 2007, enjoying the relatively cool air of mountainous Jarabacoa. This is a pleasant, inexpensive hotel in the middle of town. Tiny rooms, but clean and with a few surprising amenities -- a refrigerator, cable tv, air conditioning and a nice balcony with an interesting view. If you don't mind slightly shabby, I highly recommend it.

    This hotel is an easy walk to town square where the town's inexpensive eating and drinking spots are located. For a trip to the baseball field or the confluencia (the swimming hole at the confluence of Jarabacoa's two rivers), wave down one of the ubiquitous and ridiculously cheap motoconchistas (motorcycle taxi drivers). Always ask for a price first.

    The Hotel Gran Jimenoa is located 2-3 kilometres outside Jarabacoa, and the area around the hotel is a little isolated.

    The rooms are OK, but nothing special. Still I will recommend this hotel because of its beautiful view of the Jimenoa River.

    At the hotel there is a restaurant where you can have dinner and breakfast (not included), and the hotel also has a little pool. The pool looked clean, but I didn't go for a swim.
